Aug 26 (Reuters) – President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Wednesday declaring a national emergency and banning the use of some foreign equipment ‌in the U.S. electricity grid, the White House said.

The order cites what the White House described as an “unusual and extraordinary foreign threat” posed by foreign-made bulk-power systems that may present national security vulnerabilities.

Trump’s order, the latest example of Washington’s approach to tackling technology threats posed by China, follows a decision by the European Commission earlier this year to ban Chinese-made inverters from publicly funded energy projects.

Last year, Reuters reported that rogue communication devices not listed in product documents had been found in some Chinese solar power inverters by U.S. experts who strip down equipment hooked up to grids to check for security issues.

“I … find that the situation with respect to the foreign supply of bulk-power system electric equipment constitutes ‌an unusual and extraordinary threat, which has its source in whole or substantial part outside the United States, to the national security, foreign policy, and economy of the United States and hereby declare a national emergency with respect to that threat,” Trump said in the order.

Under the order, certain foreign-produced bulk-power system electric equipment, including associated critical software and digital capabilities that could pose cybersecurity or operational risks, will be barred from being purchased or installed in the United States, the White House said in a statement.

The order also asks the U.S. Energy Secretary to impose conditions on the continued use and operation of such equipment to address concerns identified by the Trump administration, the White House added.

U.S. Marines receive prestigious military honors for their valorous actions during the chaotic August 2021 evacuation at Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul, Afghanistan. Gunnery Sgt. Jonathan Eby, Lance Cpl. Jordan Houston and Cpl. Michael Gretzon are recognized by Secretary of War Pete Hegseth with the Bronze Star and Commendation medals in the Hall of Heroes at the Pentagon, Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2026.

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth upgraded valor awards Wednesday for three Marines who risked their lives to save others during the deadly Abbey Gate bombing, saying their original award submissions were “inappropriately” downgraded after one of the darkest days of the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan.

“For half a decade, this building allowed bureaucratic caution, or maybe politics, to stand in the way of proper recognition,” Hegseth said during a Pentagon ceremony marking exactly five years since the Aug. 26, 2021, terrorist attack.

“Today on this milestone anniversary, we declare that those days are over.”

Hegseth presented upgraded Bronze Star Medals with “V” devices for valor to Gunnery Sgt. Jonathan Eby and Lance Cpl. Jordan Houston. Cpl. Michael Gretzon received the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with a “V” device for valor.

“For too long, leadership in this capital city failed to match that frontline courage with administrative backbone, inappropriately downgrading the original award submissions that these men rightfully deserved,” Hegseth said.

Eby, then a staff sergeant, was screening evacuees from an exposed position when the suicide bomber struck. With his platoon commander and half his platoon wounded or killed, Eby took command, rallied his remaining Marines to establish security and helped evacuate the wounded, according to his award citation.

His actions “undoubtedly saved the lives of many,” the citation said.

Houston was roughly 32 feet from the blast and knocked unconscious. He awoke with shrapnel wounds but remained in an exposed position to cover fellow Marines and provide lifesaving treatment to those more seriously wounded, Marine Corps Commandant Gen. Eric Smith said.

Houston concealed his injuries because he feared being taken out of the fight and later removed shrapnel from his own body before receiving medical treatment.

“I don’t know where we find such men, but I’m not sure we deserve them,” Commandant Gen. Smith said.

Gretzon was also struck by shrapnel, suffering an arm wound severe enough that he applied his own tourniquet. After medical personnel bandaged him, he immediately returned to his squad and continued helping until his platoon sergeant personally ordered him to the casualty collection point, Smith said.

“Today our hearts remain anchored to the memory of the 13 warriors who gave their last measure of devotion on August 26th of 2021,” the ceremony’s chaplain said, asking for continued comfort for their Gold Star families.

The award upgrades come as the War Department’s Afghanistan Withdrawal Special Review Panel continues examining the attack and withdrawal.

ICE arrested a record number of people without criminal records in summer enforcement surge, new data shows

    August 26, 2026 6:24 PM EDT / CBS News

    By

Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested a record high of more than 800 people without criminal records a day in July on average, new federal data shows. The surge in arrests comes as the White House pushes the agency to hit a target of 2,000 per day.

July is the first month in President Trump’s second term when people with only civil immigration violations — rather than pending criminal charges or convictions — made up more than half of those arrested. An average of more than 1,580 people were arrested each day in July, also a new high for the current administration.

Enforcement ramped up this summer after a drop following public backlash to the Department of Homeland Security’s operation in Minneapolis, a funding standoff and a shake-up in DHS leadership. But, as has been the case with ICE’s previous big city crackdowns, rising arrest totals come with spikes in community arrests of people without criminal records.

Administration officials have repeatedly claimed that their enforcement efforts are focused on “the worst of the worst” and often tout arrests of immigrants with violent criminal convictions. Those with convictions for violent crimes as defined by the Justice Department’s Bureau of Justice Statistics make up about 6% of all those booked into ICE detention under the current administration, and about 4% of those taken into custody in July, the data show.

“ICE enforces the law as written. What makes someone a target for immigration enforcement is whether or not they are illegally in the U.S.— full stop,” a DHS spokesperson said in a statement to CBS News. “Many of the individuals that are counted as ‘non-criminals’ are actually terrorists, human rights abusers, gangsters and more; they just don’t have a rap sheet in the U.S.”

The data, obtained from ICE by the Deportation Data Project run by the University of California, Berkeley and UCLA, does not provide information about immigrants’ alleged crimes in other countries. CBS News asked DHS to provide that data.

White House border czar Tom Homan has said that sanctuary policies that prevent local law enforcement from turning over people held in jails and prisons to ICE force them to “flood the zone” and deploy more resources to such cities to find and arrest their targets and anyone else they encounter living in the U.S. illegally. Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin has made similar claims.

“I’m just saying, let’s work to get the worst of the worst off the streets and then you won’t see me in your cities and states like you do as much,” Mullin said at a conference of state governors earlier this month, urging them to increase local law enforcement cooperation with ICE. “You probably won’t even see us at all.”

But June and July data suggests that ICE agents making arrests in communities are not focusing their efforts solely on areas the administration deems to be sanctuary jurisdictions. Those cities and states saw a 27% increase in street arrests during those months compared to the previous six, compared with a 50% increase everywhere else, CBS News’ analysis of the data found.

In Florida, where state law requires local law enforcement to collaborate with ICE, federal agents made almost four times as many street arrests in June and July compared to the average over the previous six months. The increase was the highest in Jacksonville, where average monthly arrest totals rose from 18 to 166 this summer. Miami saw an average of 715 per month in June and July, up from 115.

In Texas, another state without sanctuary policies, arrests in communities tripled in El Paso and Austin.

While the overall increase of street arrests in cities with sanctuary policies was lower, some of them saw comparable surges. These arrests in San Ysidro, California, near the U.S.-Mexico border, were more than six times higher in June and July than in previous months, and they doubled in Denver, Colorado, and Newark, New Jersey.

The uptick in arrests has been without highly publicized city-focused crackdowns, with agents instead turning to traffic stops, airport arrests and arrests at immigration check-ins. The killing of two immigrants by federal agents in Maine and Texas during attempted traffic stops reignited outcry.

At least 45,300 ICE arrests in June and July, nearly half of all arrests for those two months, were made in communities rather than in jails or prisons. About 12,700 more came from what are known as 287(g) agreements, in which local law enforcement officials are empowered to make immigration-related arrests. Some street or custodial arrests may have also come through 287(g) programs without being labeled as such.

ICE has 287(g) agreements with more than 1,850 city, county and state agencies. That number has grown each month as DHS seeks to expand the program, allotting $1.15 billion toward it through September 2027.

Lance Corporal

Pentagon upgrades awards of 3 Marines for “combat heroism” after Abbey Gate attack in Kabul

    August 26, 2026 6:46 PM EDT / CBS News

Five years after the attack at Abbey Gate in Kabul that killed 13 U.S. service members, the Pentagon upgraded the awards of three Marines for their actions in the wake of the blast.

Service members were in the final days of the U.S. military’s 2021 withdrawal from Afghanistan, and were helping to process evacuees at Hamid Karzai International Airport, when a lone ISIS-K suicide bomber detonated an explosive device outside one of the gates, Abbey Gate. The attack killed 13 Americans and 170 Afghan civilians.

Retired Gunnery Sergeant Jonathan Eby, retired Lance Corporal Jordan Houston and retired Corporal Michael Gretzon were outside Abbey Gate when the bomb exploded. Despite the chaos, they provided care to the wounded and continued to process the crowd of evacuees.

Eby and Houston were each presented the Bronze Star Medal with the device for valor, and Gretzon received the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with the device for valor. The distinguishing valor device is awarded for specific acts of combat or valor against an enemy force that’s separate from an award given for general military service.

A defense official said the initial approved awards for Houston and Eby were Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals with combat devices, and Gretzon initially was approved to receive a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with a combat device.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, who presided over the ceremony and presented the upgrades, said their “fearless response represents the pinnacle of combat heroism. Simply put, valor.”

According to the award citation for Eby, he continued screening evacuees in the wake of the blast, while his platoon commander and half of his platoon were either wounded or killed by the terrorist attack. It said he took command and rallied forces to reestablish security amid the chaos before “working feverishly to evacuate injured.”

Houston was wounded, concussed, surrounded by gunfire and engulfed in tear gas, according to his citation, but he disregarded his own injuries to pull multiple wounded Marines to safety. His citation said his actions “doubtlessly saved the lives of his fellow Marines.”

Gretzon, according to his citation, continued to conduct crowd control from an exposed and vulnerable position to allow for the evacuation of those more critically wounded, which “doubtlessly saved the lives of his fellow Marines.”

The blast killed 13 service members: Staff Sgt. Taylor Hoover, Sgt. Nicole Gee, Sgt. Johanny Rosario Pichardo, Cpl. Daegan Page, Cpl. Hunter Lopez, Cpl. Humberto Sanchez, Lance Cpl. Rylee McCollum, Lance Cpl. Jared Schmitz, Lance Cpl. Kareem Nikoui, Lance Cpl. David Espinoza, Lance Cpl. Dylan Merola, Navy Hospital Corpsman Third Class Maxton Soviak and Army Staff Sgt. Ryan Knauss.

Following an investigation into the bombing, the chief investigator in a briefing told reporters the attack “was not preventable and the leaders on the ground followed the proper measures.”

Hegseth has stood up an Afghanistan Withdrawal Special Review Panel led by chief Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell to “conduct the most comprehensive military after-action review in modern history.” In an update on X Wednesday, Parnell said the panel’s work continues.

Without offering specifics or holding a briefing to answer questions, he said, “I’m going to be honest with you about what that’s turning up. The deeper we look, the more there is to look at.”

Hegseth during the award ceremony said the review would be completed by the end of the year.

Congress in 2021 established an Afghan War Commission to review the whole war and present lessons learned and recommendations from the two-decade-long conflict, which ended in 2021 with the Taliban retaking power.

Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner said Tuesday he was going to keep a piece of President Donald Trump’s White House ballroom as a paperweight “after we all blow it up.”

“In about 10 to 15 years, we are all going to be sitting here with smiles on our faces,” Krasner said, according to video footage obtained by WCAU. “And I’m going to have a paperweight sitting on my desk. And do you know what that paper weight’s going to be? It’s going to be a piece of the ballroom after we blow it up.”

Krasner, who has previously called Trump a fascist and said he would hunt down Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers, made the comments while speaking at George Washington’s historic home in Philadelphia during the city’s annual slavery commiseration, according to WCAU.

Krasner first called Trump “a pain in the a–,” to which an audience member responded, “No, he’s the devil!”

Krasner then responded, “He’s the devil, all right, well there is some evidence to that effect.”

“The man himself is the embodiment of hate. He is the embodiment of ignorance. He is the embodiment of depriving people of their vote and their education. That’s who he is,” Krasner continued.

TRUMP ORDERS SIGNS OUTSIDE SMITHSONIAN MUSEUM AMID ROW OVER ITS DEPICTION OF AMERICAN HISTORY

Krasner was specifically bashing Trump for deciding to replace a slavery exhibit at the Washington home under a March executive order titled, “Restoring Truth and Sanity to American History.”

Under the order, the National Park Service replaced the panels dedicated to showcasing the history of George Washington’s slaves with more broad displays of U.S. history. A protracted legal battle between the city and the Trump administration most recently saw a federal appeals court side with the federal government and rule that Philadelphia had no legal right to dictate the content of the displays at the federally owned site.

Despite the city’s loss to the federal government in the legal fight, Krasner remained defiant.

“This memorial will be here, the educational content will be here,” Krasner railed Tuesday. “People will be coming to see it, not for a year or two, or not even 20 years. They will be coming to see it as long as this federal park is here.”

“But let me tell you what will not be here,” he continued.

“There will not be a ballroom. There will not be a Kennedy Center renamed for a fool,” Krasner said.

Krasner did specify that the envisioned demolition would be “in an official ceremony, just to be clear, in an official ceremony we’re gonna blow it up and we’re gonna give the taxpayers their money back by selling old pieces as paperweights, and I’m gonna have one on my desk.”

WHITE HOUSE SEIZES ON DELAYED OBAMA PRESIDENTIAL CENTER OPENING TO CROWN TRUMP ‘BUILDER-IN-CHIEF’

The White House fired back at Krasner’s comments about the ballroom project.

“President Trump continues to implement long-overdue and necessary renovations to beautify the People’s House as we approach our great Nation’s 250th anniversary of independence. Thanks to the Builder-in-Chief, the White House will be properly glorified and remain in excellent condition for generations to come. Only people who suffer from a severe and incurable disease known as Trump Derangement Syndrome would find a problem with that,” White House spokesperson Davis Ingle said in a statement to Fox News Digital.

When reached by Fox News Digital, Nate Herring, the U.S. Secret Service’s lead public affairs specialist, said, “The U.S. Secret Service investigates anything that can be perceived as a threat toward our protectees. Out of concern for operational security, we do not discuss matters of protective intelligence.”

Fox News Digital contacted the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office for further comment.

Sen. John Fetterman of Pennsylvania, a centrist Democrat known for bashing his party’s left flank, is more popular among Keystone State Republicans than their own GOP senator, Sen. Dave McCormick, according to a new poll.

The release of the poll this week by the New York Times, Philadelphia Inquirer and Siena University is further evidence that Fetterman, who at times breaks with his party and aligns with President Donald Trump, and who is a frequent guest on the Fox News Channel, has become increasingly popular among Republicans.

The survey may boost speculation that the first-term senator could potentially bolt the Democrats and become a Republican. But Fetterman has denied that he plans to leave the Democratic Party.

Nearly 3 in 4 Republican registered voters in Pennsylvania (73%) held a favorable opinion of Fetterman, according to the poll. That’s 10 points higher than the 63% of Republicans in the state who viewed McCormick favorably.

The 73% of Republicans who view Fetterman favorably is a major increase from the 25% who said the same thing in 2024, two years after the senator was elected.

But Fetterman’s standing among Democrats continued to sink, according to the poll.

Just 22% of registered Democrats in Pennsylvania said they had a favorable view of Fetterman, while 63% viewed him unfavorably. That’s a dramatic reversal from two years ago, when 74% of Democrats viewed Fetterman favorably.

The survey also indicated that by a 49%-35% margin, independents held a favorable view of Fetterman.

Matt Beynon, a veteran Pennsylvania-based Republican consultant, told Fox News Digital, “I think a lot of Republicans appreciate the fact that Sen. Fetterman is willing to stick his thumb in the radical wing of his party’s eye on issues like antisemitism.”

Video: Fetterman questions future in Democratic Party amid Israel divide

Fetterman’s growing popularity among Republicans has fueled speculation that he leave the Democratic Party before potentially facing a primary challenge when he’s up for re-election in 2028.

The senator, who is a strong supporter of Israel, has increasingly railed against fellow Democrats who have criticized Israeli leaders over their ongoing war against Hamas in Gaza. Fetterman has said he has “no plans” to leave the Democratic Party. But he added if Democrats officially became the “anti-Israel party,” count him out.

“My long-term concern has been with the Democratic Party, as I am a member of that, is that our party is going to back away and turn their back to Israel,” he said last month at a Hill Nation Summit in Washington, D.C.

“If our party ever becomes, and just makes it official, the anti-Israel party, that’s when I would leave because that’s been a moral clarity for me.”

Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., and other Senate Republicans have reached out to Fetterman regarding a party switch.

“I have had conversations with him in the past, as have many of my colleagues about the challenges he faces in his caucus. And there are many of us who, I think, would welcome the opportunity to have him join the Republican conference, but ultimately that’s a decision that’s up to him,” Thune told reporters in July.

But Beynon said that regardless of Fetterman’s growing popularity among Republicans, “when it comes time for the senator’s re-election campaign in 2028, those same voters will be reminded that John Fetterman votes with Democrats more than 90% of the time.”

Fox News Digital reached out to the senator’s office for comment regarding the new poll, but did not receive a response at the time this story was published.

CIA Director John Ratcliffe flew to Moscow to meet with Russian intelligence officials, the Kremlin reportedly said Wednesday, after video emerged of a U.S. military transport plane coming in for a landing Tuesday at Vnukovo airport.

President Donald Trump, when asked this morning about Ratcliffe’s visit on “The Glenn Beck Program,” said, “He’s there on, you know, very sort of semi-routine.”

“We would like to see the war with Ukraine end,” Trump added, before saying, “Now something may come out of it.

“We’re working very hard to get that war ended and frankly they both want to see it ended at this point.”

The last CIA director to visit Moscow was William Burns in November 2021, three months before Russia’s war against Ukraine started, Reuters reported.

A senior Ukrainian official told The Associated Press that Washington informed Kyiv a delegation would be traveling to the Russian capital and asked it to suspend strikes until it left.

2028 Dem hopeful slaps Trump admin with lawsuit over mail-in-voting after major SCOTUS victory

The states say USPS is overstepping by inserting itself into how states run mail-in elections

DOJ to defend Trump mail-in voting limits after Supreme Court win

Mail-in voting restrictions will be defended by Attorney General Todd Blanche against upcoming legal challenges from California Governor Gavin Newsom. Following a landmark 6-3 Supreme Court victory, Blanche tells ‘America’s Newsroom’ that the Department of Justice remains fully prepared to fight for election integrity and secure the voting process ahead of the midterm elections.

With the November midterms approaching, Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro is joining attorneys general from 23 states and Washington, D.C., in suing the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) over a Trump-backed mail-ballot rule that would impose new federal requirements on how states prepare and send mail ballots.

“I’m suing the Trump Administration to stop their unconstitutional attempt to change the rules and restrict mail-in voting. I’ll remind the President of my track record going up against him in court — and winning — to protect Pennsylvania’s free, fair, safe, and secure elections. I’m prepared to do so again,” Shapiro wrote on X. “Nothing about voting by mail has changed here in Pennsylvania. You can still vote safely and securely by mail.”

“While Donald Trump may try to inject chaos into our elections, the Constitution is clear: the authority to set election rules belongs to the states — not the federal government,” he continued.

The two-dozen-state coalition returned to court two days after the Supreme Court stayed an earlier injunction issued by a Massachusetts federal judge against key parts of Trump’s mail-voting executive order, finding the states’ initial challenge premature because USPS had not yet issued a final rule when they filed suit.

“The Supreme Court ruling was a major win for the security of American elections. Radical Democrats continue to oppose commonsense measures that protect the security of mail-in ballots and ensure only Americans are electing American leaders,” White House spokeswoman Lauren Bis said in a statement to Fox News Digital. “The Trump Administration will continue to lawfully enact the agenda President Trump was elected on – which includes the safety and security of our elections.”

At issue is USPS’s newly finalized “Ballot Mail for Federal Elections” rule, which went into effect last week and was published Wednesday. It would require state and local election officials to submit information on intended mail-ballot recipients to a USPS portal, where the agency would compile state-specific lists of enrolled mail voters. It would also require certain mail-in ballot design requirements, such as trackable barcodes, and require officials to submit ballot-envelope designs to USPS for pre-approval.

In their 53-page complaint, the states argue that the rule improperly gives USPS a new role in running elections, forcing election officials to adopt new procedures, share ballot-recipient information and potentially replace already-purchased envelopes as the midterms draw closer. They also argue that Congress, not the president or Postal Service, has the authority to alter election rules, and that USPS skipped a review process for major nationwide changes to postal services or operations.

Steve Bullock during a pandemic that is expected to force many more people to vote by mail. (AP Photo/Nati Harnik, File)

The coalition is asking the court to block the rule while the lawsuit proceeds and ultimately throw it out, arguing that their new challenge answers the Supreme Court’s timing concern. A separate Massachusetts injunction had temporarily blocked USPS from putting the requirements in place for the November midterms, but the judge lifted that order Wednesday following the Supreme Court’s ruling.

“This Court held that ‘no law enacted by Congress delegates authority to control mail-in voting to USPS,’ and that the President’s directives to USPS were ultra vires,” the states write in their complaint. “The Supreme Court subsequently stayed the injunction—not because Plaintiff States’ claims lacked merit, but because the States ‘lack[ed] standing to bring’ their claims as to the [Executive Order] … As the Court explained, USPS had not yet implemented the EO, but if USPS ultimately adopts a final rule that ‘harms the States, they may challenge that rule.’ USPS then published its final rule two days later.”

D-Ill.

D-Mich.

D-Mich.

D-Fla.

D-Mass.

D-Mich.

D-Calif.

D-Nev.

D-Ariz.

Prominent Democrats are lining up to condemn far-left streamer Hasan Piker after he warned that American Jews could face violence if they continue to be seen as strongly supporting Israel.

The backlash follows a stream last week in which Piker displayed an image of Michigan state Sen. Jeremy Moss, who is Jewish and the Democratic nominee in Michigan’s 11th Congressional District.

Moss has said a fake audio clip is being circulated that falsely portrays him as saying he ran for Congress solely to ensure continued U.S. support for Israel.

“If Jews in America keep putting this idea out there that they are singularly invested in Israel, eventually someone is going to come around and take action, not against the state of Israel, mind you, but against American Jews,” Piker said.

Piker’s comments drew criticism from top Democrats, including House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and DNC Chair Ken Martin, as well as lawmakers who have criticized him before. Others who have appeared with Piker or defended engaging with him are now pushing back on his remarks.

Here are the Democrats speaking out:

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y.

Jeffries joined the backlash Monday, initially without mentioning Piker by name. The House Democratic leader called the claim that American Jews were inviting violence against themselves “dangerous and antisemitic.”

Asked on CNN the following day whether he was referring to Piker, Jeffries said yes.

“Those comments were dangerous, malicious and antisemitic and should not be tolerated by anyone in the public square,” Jeffries said.

    Rep. Brad Schneider, D-Ill.

Schneider was one of the first Democratic lawmakers to publicly take on Piker, calling him an “unapologetic antisemite” in March and warning fellow Democrats against giving a platform to people who espouse hate.

Schneider renewed that criticism Tuesday, saying Piker’s latest remarks were consistent with his “history of antisemitic statements.”

“Hasan Piker’s hateful ideas and antisemitic remarks have no place in America or our nation’s politics,” Schneider said.

    Sen. Elissa Slotkin, D-Mich.

Slotkin, who had previously criticized Piker and his involvement in Michigan Democratic politics, spoke out again after his latest comments.

“No community should face the threat [of] violence for their political views,” Slotkin said, rejecting the idea that Jewish Americans should be blamed for antisemitism directed at them.

    Rep. Haley Stevens, D-Mich.

Stevens criticized Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed earlier this year for campaigning with Piker and made clear she would not do the same.

Piker was the “exact opposite” of someone she would campaign with, Stevens said. She later said she believed Piker should be condemned.

    Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J.

Booker’s team had already kept its distance from Piker, turning down an appearance with the streamer over his past comments.

Booker went further this week, directly condemning Piker’s rhetoric about Jewish Americans and saying it has no place in public discourse.

    Michigan state Sen. Mallory McMorrow

In April, McMorrow criticized Piker’s role in Michigan Democratic politics and his inflammatory style.

She compared Piker’s approach to that of far-right commentator Nick Fuentes, arguing that both use inflammatory rhetoric to attract attention.

    Rep. Josh Gottheimer, D-N.J.

Gottheimer has been among Piker’s most persistent Democratic critics. In April, he joined Republican Rep. Mike Lawler of New York in introducing a bipartisan House resolution condemning antisemitic rhetoric from Piker and Candace Owens.

In an interview on Fox News’ “America’s Newsroom,” Gottheimer praised Jeffries pushback against Piker, calling the streamer’s comments something “right out of the Nazi playbook,” emphasizing them as “a call for violence against Jews.”

Gottheimer on Tuesday also called on House leaders to bring the resolution up for a vote.

He also told CNN in an interview that anyone who does not condemn Piker’s comments is “complicit.”

HASAN PIKER CALLS FOR DEMOCRATS WHO OPPOSE ABDUL EL-SAYED TO BE ‘PUNISHED’

    James Carville

Longtime Democratic strategist James Carville drew a line between himself and part of the Democratic Party embracing Piker earlier this month.

Carville said he would leave the party if Piker’s wing took control, arguing there was no room for both of them under the same political tent.

He later told Fox News’ “Jesse Watters Primetime” he is not concerned about socialists taking over the Democratic Party, dismissing the party’s socialist flank as a “pack of fools” and “a bunch of silly people.”

    Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa.

Fetterman earlier this month took aim at El-Sayed over his ties to Piker during Michigan’s Democratic Senate primary.

“I dare you to continue to campaign with people like Hasan Piker,” Fetterman said.

Fetterman’s comments were aimed primarily at Democrats associating with Piker rather than a direct response to the streamer’s latest remarks.

    Rep. Jared Moskowitz, D-Fla.

Moskowitz distanced himself from Piker last week after defeating a Democratic primary challenger who had Piker’s backing.

The Florida Democrat made clear after the race that he wanted no association with Piker or his politics.

    Rep. Jake Auchincloss, D-Mass.

Auchincloss rejected Piker’s politics during an appearance on “Fox News Sunday,” drawing a clear distinction between the streamer and the Democratic Party.

“The Democratic Party does not stand for what Hasan Piker stands for,” Auchincloss said.

HASAN PIKER STANDS BY ‘INTENTIONALLY PROVOCATIVE’ CLAIMS THAT HAMAS IS ‘A THOUSAND TIMES BETTER’ THAN ISRAEL

    Rep. Hillary Scholten, D-Mich.

Scholten issued one of the sharpest responses after Piker’s comments about American Jews and Michigan state Sen. Jeremy Moss.

“Hasan Piker’s talk of violence against American Jews and directly naming a Michigan elected official and future member of Congress, Jeremy Moss, is unacceptable. Full stop,” Scholten said Monday.

She also called Piker a “hack who thrives on hate, shock and awe” and said his rhetoric had no place in Michigan or the country.

Michigan state Sen. Jeremy Moss, D

Moss, who was directly discussed during Piker’s stream, on Monday pushed back after Piker displayed his image while talking about American Jews and Israel.

Moss said there was “no room for extremism in Michigan.”

    Rep. Ro Khanna, D-Calif.

Khanna’s response was notable because he has appeared on Piker’s show and previously defended his decision to engage with the streamer.

But on Monday, Khanna rejected Piker’s latest argument, saying antisemitism should be condemned unequivocally and that Jewish people and supporters of Israel are not responsible for antisemitism directed at them.

    Abdul El-Sayed

El-Sayed, whose Michigan Senate campaign has faced criticism over his association with Piker, sought to put some distance between his campaign and the streamer after the latest controversy on Monday.

El-Sayed said Piker does not speak for him or his campaign and condemned antisemitism. He stopped short, however, of directly condemning Piker himself.

DEMOCRATIC MICHIGAN AG ACCUSES HER PARTY OF ‘ABSOLUTELY NOT’ DOING ENOUGH TO COUNTER ANTISEMITISM

    DNC Chair Ken Martin

Democratic National Committee Chair Ken Martin joined the criticism Tuesday, bringing the national party’s leadership into the dispute.

Martin condemned the idea that American Jews should be blamed for hatred, threats or violence directed at them, calling such rhetoric dangerous, wrong and antisemitic.

    Sen. Jacky Rosen, D-Nev.

Rosen, co-chair of the Senate Bipartisan Task Force for Combating Antisemitism, said Piker had used antisemitic tropes before but on Tuesday described his latest remarks as “a new low.”

The Nevada Democrat rejected the suggestion that Jewish Americans bear responsibility for antisemitism or violence directed at them.

    Rep. Ritchie Torres, D-N.Y.

Torres, a longtime Piker critic, again spoke out Tuesday after the streamer’s comments about American Jews.

The New York Democrat accused Piker of blaming Jewish victims for the antisemitism directed against them, adding to his previous criticism of the streamer.

    Rep. Greg Stanton, D-Ariz.

Stanton joined the Democrats speaking out Tuesday over Piker’s latest comments.

The Arizona congressman rejected the argument that Jewish Americans bear responsibility for hatred or violence directed against them.
