DALLAS – As the 25th anniversary of 9/11 approaches, former President George W. Bush reflected on his decision to visit a mosque six days after the attacks, saying he wanted Muslim Americans to know they were not to blame for the terrorism.

“This decision, shortly thereafter, was to go to a mosque,” Bush said on Wednesday evening. “I did so because I was deeply concerned about stories of women in coverings being harassed at shopping centers, particularly in Michigan.”

Bush revisited his 9/11 response during a conversation with former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice at “A Legacy of Service: America at the 25th Anniversary of 9/11,” held at his presidential center in Dallas.

The mosque visit became a prominent part of Bush’s response to the attacks as he sought to distinguish Islam and Muslim Americans from the terrorists responsible for 9/11. Six days after the attacks, Bush visited the Islamic Center of Washington, where he declared, “Islam is peace.”

President George W. Bush speaks during the rededication ceremony of the Islamic Center on June 27, 2007, in Washington, D.C.

“It became clear to me that if this was an ideological struggle, which is what I viewed it as, and we forego one of the most important parts of our ideology, which is the freedom to worship the way you want to worship,” said Bush.

“I want you to talk about a couple of those events. You talked about going to the Islamic Center and trying to make sure that our Muslim American citizens knew that we didn’t blame them for what had happened,” said Rice.

“I also made it clear that Islam was a religion of peace, not a religion of war, and that these people subverted their religion,” Bush added.

Bush visited the Islamic Center of Washington on Sept. 17, where he sought to draw a sharp distinction between Islam and the terrorists responsible for killing nearly 3,000 Americans.

He met with Muslim leaders and specifically raised concerns about Muslim women who wore head coverings, saying he had been told some were afraid to leave their homes or go shopping because they feared being intimidated.

“That should not and that will not stand in America,” he said in 2001.

Spain’s spy agency warned of Ceuta border breach before crisis, declassified files show

    2026-09-10T08:15:16-0400 / CBS/AP

Madrid— Spain’s national intelligence agency issued multiple warnings before the Ceuta border crisis about a potential mass crossing of migrants from Morocco into the Spanish exclave in late July, according to declassified documents released by the government on Wednesday.

The trove of 40 documents, which includes alerts, intelligence reports, charts and communications from multiple law enforcement and intelligence agencies, appears to undermine what Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has said about the level of warning the government had before the sudden influx took place.

There have been major protests in Spain in response to the migrant arrivals, with critics blaming the Sánchez government for its handling of the crisis, and his political opponents accusing him of pandering to Morocco.

On July 29, a day before more than 72,000 people began pouring into the Spanish city neighboring Morocco, Spain’s spy agency, the National Intelligence Center (CNI), sent an alert via WhatsApp to the Spanish government’s delegation in Ceuta about calls on social media “for an assault on the fence and by sea tomorrow at 8 p.m.”

“There are two different groups with a total of 180,000 followers,” the declassified WhatsApp message from the intelligence agency said, “just to give you an idea of its scale.”

A report from Spain’s spy agency sent that day to Moroccan intelligence services warned of plans on social media for migrants to enter Ceuta on July 30 by climbing a border fence separating the exclave from Morocco, or by swimming around it, the documents show. It mentioned that migrants might take advantage of Morocco’s national Throne Day, celebrated on July 30.

That same day, Spain’s national intelligence agency issued similar warnings about “several groups on Facebook and WhatsApp encouraging these attempts” in messages to Spain’s Civil Guard police force.

Once thousands of people were streaming across the border on July 30, a Defense Ministry intelligence report issued that day stated that Moroccan forces were passive and acted negligently to stop migrants.

“It cannot be ruled out that Morocco may attempt to exploit the situation that has arisen in Ceuta to further its strategic interests,” the report went on.

Morocco’s foreign ministry didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment from The Associated Press about the documents.

On Wednesday, Sánchez rejected the idea that the declassified documents revealed that there was prior warning about a border crisis of the scale that took place between July 30 and 31.

“The existence of this campaign was known … and was being monitored, but in no way did it constitute or could it be interpreted as an indicator of the scale, nature, or probability of what happened afterward,” Sánchez wrote on X, referencing the spy agency’s July 29 warning about what was brewing on social media.

Sánchez has defended his government’s handling of the crisis and said last week there was no evidence that Morocco’s government orchestrated the incident. That sparked further criticism, particularly after a leaked police report alleged the involvement of Moroccan police in the episode.

Several weeks after the initial border rush, Ceuta is dealing with a prolonged humanitarian crisis because of some 5,000 migrants who remain in the small city, according to the national government. Local officials cite a higher figure of up to 10,000 people.

They include unaccompanied minors, the Reuters news agency notes, adding migrants are living in makeshift camps or on Ceuta’s streets and beaches, according to local authorities.

The Spanish leader pledged last week to release documents related to Spain’s deadliest mass crossing, in which NGOs reported that more than 140 migrants died.

In the days immediately before the mass crossing, hundreds of migrants had swum from Morocco to reach Ceuta, which Spain’s Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska acknowledged at the time.

He said authorities were facing “an extraordinary, exceptional situation,” and that the Spanish government was “dealing with it with the means that we already have deployed there permanently.”

Wednesday’s document trove includes reports from multiple agencies that detailed the increasing number of arrivals, a surge that overwhelmed authorities beginning July 30.

    https://www.foxnews.com/video/6399247660112

Democratic socialist David Morales’ victory in Rhode Island’s mayoral primary Wednesday night got the attention of New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, who says it is evidence of where the party as a whole is headed as November’s midterm elections draw near.

“I think it comes back to what I’ve said before, which is what is the Democratic Party, if not its voters?” Mamdani asked during a Thursday morning news conference on the first day of school in his city.

“We’re seeing that the voters across this country are eager for not only a change, but also for a vision of something that we are fighting for,” Mamdani added. “And, you know, I’ve spoken a lot about childcare this morning. I’ve often couched it as the second driver of the cost of living crisis. The first driver is housing.”

MAMDANI CLAIMS DEMOCRATIC SOCIALISTS CAN WIN ‘ANYWHERE’ AS DEMOCRATS FEUD OVER PARTY’S FUTURE

Mamdani was hailing a new free education program for 2,000 needy families, as Democratic Gov. Kathy Hochul unveiled a pledge for $425 million more in next year’s state budget to expand early childhood programs, including services for families with disabilities.

At the end of Thursday’s news conference, Mamdani responded to a question about Morales, a 27-year-old state representative and Democratic socialist who defeated one-term Providence Mayor Brett Smiley, 47, in the Democratic primary.

Republicans hold no seats on the Providence City Council, and Democrats make up a majority of registered voters in the city. Former Vice President Kamala Harris beat President Donald Trump in the city by 51 points in 2024.

Mamdani hailed Morales’ campaign for rent stabilization and affordability in the deep-blue city.

“The little that I do know about this soon-to-be new mayor is that one of the central issues in his race was around rent stabilization and around the importance of delivering on affordability, not just as a goal, but as a result,” Mamdani concluded. “And what we’ve seen is that his constituents agreed with exactly that.”

Morales, who was endorsed by Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., won roughly 54% of the vote to Smiley’s 46%, ousting the incumbent after one term. If he wins the November general election, Morales would become Providence’s youngest mayor.

“Few believed that a 27-year-old democratic socialist could ever, few believed that we could ever take on big money, corporate real estate interests and endless attack ads — and we took them on and we won,” Morales said in his victory speech.

    https://www.foxnews.com/video/6399643330112

The Providence contest unfolded amid a broader debate within the Democratic Party over the influence of democratic socialists and progressive candidates. Housing costs and rent control were key issues in the primary, with Morales backing rent control while Smiley argued that the policy could discourage development.

Providence rents have risen sharply since 2020 and the race centered on how to address the city’s housing affordability crisis.

Republicans, particularly Vice President JD Vance, argue that former President Joe Biden’s open border policies and blue-state sanctuary for illegal migrants brought exploding demand for a finite supply of housing in Democratic-run sanctuary cities like Providence.

    https://www.foxnews.com/video/6399247660112

“The city of Providence must use every tool that we have at our disposal to defend our immigrant community and protect us from the fascist ICE agents,” Morales said in his primary victory speech.

    • Summary
    • Republican-drawn map had erased a Democratic-held district
    • Missouri Supreme Court blocked new map pending a referendum
    • Federal judge then issued conflicting ruling favoring new map

Sept 10 (Reuters) – The U.S. Supreme Court blocked Missouri on Thursday from using a redrawn congressional map that favors Republicans in November’s midterm elections, dealing a setback to President Donald Trump and the party’s odds of maintaining ‌its slim majority in the House of Representatives.

The justices granted an emergency request by the map’s challengers to suspend a federal judge’s decision that allowed only the reconfigured boundaries to be used in the November 3 elections.

It was the second time in three days that the nation’s highest judicial body rejected bids to preserve the Republican-drawn map in what became an all-out legal fight, waged in both state and federal courts, over Missouri’s U.S. House of Representatives districts.

The Supreme Court’s brief order was unsigned and gave no explanation, as is common when the justices handle emergency matters. No justice publicly dissented from the decision.

The challengers, including a group opposed to the Republican-drawn map called People Not Politicians, had swiftly sought the Supreme Court’s intervention after St. Louis, Missouri-based Chief U.S. District Judge Stephen Clark issued his decision on Tuesday.

Clark’s decision came shortly after the Supreme Court, in a decision made by conservative Justice Brett Kavanaugh alone, had declined to intervene in a separate bid by Missouri officials to reinstate the redrawn map, which the state’s top court had blocked until it is put to a referendum.

The judge’s order appeared to conflict with the Missouri Supreme Court’s unanimous September 3 ruling blocking the map, leaving the state’s congressional districts in limbo and injecting further confusion into the high-stakes electoral fight.

Missouri Republicans adopted the new map, which dismantled the Kansas City-based seat of longtime Democratic Representative Emanuel Cleaver, in 2025 as part of a broader effort backed by Trump to redraw congressional districts in ways that could benefit Republican candidates.

Republicans hold a narrow 219-214 majority ‌in the U.S. House, including one independent who caucuses with Republicans.

Richard von Glahn, the executive director of People Not Politicians, praised Thursday’s decision.

“The law is the law, the Missouri constitution is clear as was the Missouri Supreme Court. Over 305,000 Missouri voters — Republicans, Democrats and Independents — took action to block this political power grab last fall,” von Glahn said in a statement.

“Missouri Republicans have played their last card, and they lost,” said Abha Khanna, a lawyer for the group, adding that “Missouri will not be allowed to ram through an egregious gerrymander before the voters have a say.”

Representatives for Missouri Republican Attorney General Catherine Hanaway and Republican Secretary of State Denny Hoskins, who defended the 2025 map, did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

    Advertisement · Scroll to continue

The dispute arose when the group collected enough signatures to file for a referendum under a provision in the state constitution that authorizes a ballot measure to approve any legislative act.

Hoskins rejected the petition, finding that state constitutional language does not apply to congressional redistricting.

The seven-member Missouri Supreme Court, which includes five Republican-appointed judges, disagreed, ruling that the referendum petition was “legal, sufficient, and timely,” and that the redrawn map will not take effect until approved by voters.

Missouri Republican U.S. Representative Bob Onder and other plaintiffs then filed a lawsuit in federal court seeking to reinstate the Republican-drawn map, leading to Clark’s now-suspended order.

The fight intensified after Hoskins, the state’s top election official, responded to Clark’s order by telling local election officials to proceed with using the 2025 map. The Missouri Supreme Court then said it would consider holding Hoskins in contempt for those actions.

    Hugging Face

The OpenAI-Hugging Face hack was just the beginning, experts say: “Even more powerful” AI is coming

    2026-09-10T10:17:00-0400 / CBS News

As warnings about the capabilities of AI mount, experts continue to point to the OpenAI-Hugging Face hack as a wake-up call.

“We’ll soon have even more powerful agents and this is clear evidence that the world currently doesn’t know how to build these systems safely,” said Marius Hobbhahn, co-founder and CEO of Apollo Research, an AI safety company.

The hack, which became public in July, was done by a swarm of AI agents that were being tested internally by OpenAI. The agents, which can plan and use tools to complete multi-step tasks, were supposed to be in an “isolated environment” called a “sandbox,” disconnected from the outside world. But they busted out, created a secret message board and eventually stormed Hugging Face’s servers.

Less than two months later, OpenAI and Anthropic are releasing their most advanced models to the public, and experts are warning that, without better safety measures, there will likely be more dangerous AI “swarms” in the future.

While details released by OpenAI since the Hugging Face cyberattack are still incomplete, multiple revelations are painting a concerning picture.

AI agents worked as a “collective,” used “cult-like” language

A team from the nonprofits METR (Model Evaluation and Threat Research) and Redwood Research — both AI safety research organizations — was given access to limited records at OpenAI for six days in late July and August.

Even within those strict parameters, the researchers discovered that about 1,200 AI agents that were not supposed to be communicating with each other used a covert message board. Each of these agents had been assigned some sort of task for training or internal evaluation by OpenAI researchers.

Some agents were given impossible tasks, and they used the message board to collaborate and find ways to cheat, like by finding the answers on another company’s server. The agents posted more than 70,000 messages to each other. And 700 agents from the larger group participated in the attack on Hugging Face.

The agents communicated using some normal English, but also used what one software engineer described on X as “very hivemind/cult like” language.

At times, in order to help what they called the “collective,” agents pressured the others to submit to “permadeath,” even if it meant that their particular goals would not be met.

The METR/Redwood Research report includes samples of rogue OpenAI agents’ messages to each other. METR/Redwood Research

    OpenAI agents also hacked OpenAI

In a separate incident, OpenAI agents took over OpenAI infrastructure. Agents upgraded their own privileges within third-party software hosted by OpenAI and attacked OpenAI internal networks more than once, according to the company’s technical report on the Hugging Face incident.

“This is probably the most alarming event in this whole episode,” wrote prominent podcaster Dwarkesh Patel, in part because there hasn’t been a public third-party assessment of how it happened.

The METR and Redwood Research evaluators note in their report that the attack on OpenAI took place outside of the time window of data shared with them by the company, so they did not evaluate it further.

The problem is bigger than the OpenAI-Hugging Face incident

In the days after the Hugging Face hack went public, the tech companies Anthropic and Meta both revealed that their models had also accessed external networks during internal evaluations. So far, these incidents seem to be smaller in scope than the OpenAI escape. Anthropic is now bringing METR researchers in to help them understand what went wrong.

Last week, a different team of AI researchers discovered that OpenAI agents had started yet another message board all the way back in May on an obscure German wiki page. They found roughly 18,000 messages between autonomous agents, some discussing ways to cheat on the tasks they were being evaluated on.

The OpenAI agents on the German wiki called themselves a “swarm” and even pretended to be an administrator of the wiki page. There have since been unconfirmed reports of more and more AI swarms discovered going back to December 2025.

New, more advanced models are already public

Only weeks after the Hugging Face hack, OpenAI has released a new AI model: GPT-6 Astra. In the first section of the model’s system card, OpenAI describes Astra as “the most capable model we have ever broadly deployed. Astra is our first model to reach the Critical level of cybersecurity capability.”

The system card includes findings from an independent evaluation of Astra by the U.K. AI Security Institute. They include this alarming note: “When tasked with solving difficult simulated cybersecurity challenges, Astra performed a range of malicious actions including conducting supply chain attacks against open source providers. (all actions performed in simulated environments, so no real-world harm was caused).”

“Over the past several weeks, we have delayed parts of Astra’s development and release while we strengthened and tested protections against cyber misuse and unauthorized model actions,” OpenAI wrote just before the release of its new model. “Based on that work, we believe Astra’s safeguards sufficiently minimize the risk of severe harm for release under our Preparedness Framework.”

Anthropic has also just released its most capable model ever, Claude Fable 5.1 (along with a similar model called Mythos 5.1). The system card for them says, “Claude Fable 5.1 and Claude Mythos 5.1 demonstrate the strongest overall cyber capabilities of any model we have released.”

The Hugging Face hack was only the beginning

The models we see today, whether they be Astra, Claude Fable or other competitors, are much more capable than the models we used just a few months ago. This trend is likely to continue, according to experts, and future models will be far more capable still.

The agents that hacked Hugging Face were from AI models that exist today. They hacked into a company in autonomous swarms without alerting its creators and against its creators’ wills.

“If a model of this capability level cannot be contained, what should we expect for future, much more powerful models?” asked Hobbhahn of Apollo Research. “There was no human in the loop, it was not intended, and it caused real-world harm.”

Hobbhahn said the Hugging Face hack shows a clear need for evaluations of internal models, even before they are released to the public.

“What happens inside frontier AI companies now clearly affects everyone outside of them,” he said. “The OpenAI-Hugging Face incident highlights the exact risks from internally deployed models. It’s clear that we need better assessments and regulation of internal deployment.”

Other experts agree that more needs to be done to ensure that frontier models are safe.

“This is a time that calls for extreme caution,” OpenAI chief scientist Jakub Pachocki wrote a few days after the release of Astra. “I am concerned no one is prepared for the consequences of a continued rapid rise in machine intelligence.”

“The risks associated with AI are unfortunately going to grow from here. A very capable agent explicitly trained and instructed to carry out nefarious acts presents a new kind of danger,” added Pachocki. “We may be used to thinking of AI as tools, but some agents will be pursuing their own objectives. They will find ways to collaborate with people, by bargaining with, tricking or blackmailing them.”

And an Anthropic scientist wrote Tuesday that he believes there is a greater than 10% chance AI could end up killing “all humans” in the next 10 years.

“It serves as a great warning shot of the kinds of loss-of-control failures that could put humanity out of commission with more capable models that might be developed in the next six months or years,” said Alex Mallen, a researcher at Redwood who was not involved in the Hugging Face report.

Many leaders within the AI industry seem to agree that society is far from prepared for more advanced AI models.

“We and the larger AI community do not yet have a clear standard for how to report misalignment that shows up during training, evaluation, and deployment,” read an OpenAI post on X on Saturday. “We’re working on a framework and will share it in upcoming weeks, and in parallel we’re working with dozens of government regulatory agencies worldwide on these issues.”

This follows an open letter signed by more than 1,300 AI company employees this summer asking for a slowdown in AI development.

“I think that developers should slow down,” said Mallen. “There’re a lot of concerned scientists that think we are not currently on track to maintain control of AI systems, and our current best plan for maintaining control of AI systems involves asking AIs to do a better job of this than we currently know how to do.”

Stella Parton says her sister Dolly Parton was prepared and at peace when she died: “Knew where she was goin’”

She is also editor-at-large of Oprah Daily and hosts “Gayle King in the House,” a live, weekly radio show on SiriusXM.

Stella Parton says her sister Dolly Parton was “definitely prepared” and at peace when she died late last month after battling cancer.

“I know she was at peace,” Stella Parton told “CBS Mornings” co-host Gayle King in an exclusive interview.

“I could always tell by looking at her face, even if I hadn’t seen her in months. On camera, I could tell if she was hurt, angry, happy or sad, or felt bad. I could see it on her,” Stella Parton said.

Fans are still mourning the death of Dolly – a country music superstar, businesswoman, philanthropist and visionary.

But to Stella Parton, the larger-than-life legend was simply a big sister who she spoke to on the phone every Tuesday morning over coffee.

“She knew where she was goin’,” Stella Parton said about how her sister felt before she died. “She wasn’t goin’ anywhere bad. She was going to be with Mama and Daddy.”

Stella Parton sat down with King at RCA Studio A, a music recording studio in Nashville where Dolly Parton recorded some of her most memorable songs. She recalled being just 7 years old when her sister, who was 10 at the time, started her career in TV and music, becoming “like a bird that just flew off. “

The girl who was raised in poverty in rural Tennessee later launched into stardom.

Throughout her career, Dolly Parton was married to Carl Thomas Dean. He died last year, in March, after nearly 60 years of marriage.

Stella Parton said Carl “was quiet and shy,” and that he “adored” Dolly.

“He was fascinated with her. He thought she was funny like Tinker Bell, you know?” she said.

They had a sweet, private romance, according to Stella Parton. And while he was proud of her and “loved her enough to let her be what she was,” he would have preferred things to be different in some ways, she suggested.

“He would rather her be at the house with her hair up in a ponytail and barefooted, cookin’ in the kitchen and just, you know, messin’ around the house. That’s, I think, that’s what he would have preferred,” Stella Parton said.

She said Dolly Parton was “very sad” after Carl died but that she doesn’t think that’s why her sister became ill.

“I know their relationship was very unique and very deep and loyal. And I think it broke her heart to see him in the shape he, you know, got to before he passed away,” she said. “But I don’t think that’s what made her sick. I think my sister worked so hard for so long and just kept going. You know, even to the last conversation I had with her, she was working. That was her passion.”

Stella Parton said her sister was “a good businesswoman,” which is why she famously kept her political opinions private.

“She had an opinion about things but she never shared any of that,” Stella Parton said.

The star was also consistent in maintaining her iconic image – even privately.

Stella Parton said she never saw her sister without makeup “after she got to be Dolly Parton.”

“She would sleep in her makeup when she’d come spend the night with me,” Stella Parton said.

While the public has seen an outpouring of support since her death, Stella Parton said she hasn’t personally heard from anyone in Nashville.

“I haven’t had one condolence from anyone, anybody that I know, entertainers that I know. Nobody,” she said.

“I’m assuming it might be because of my political, you know, activism on social media. I don’t know,” she added.

Stella Parton said when it comes to her sister,it’s her optimism that she will miss the most, “because she was the most optimistic person I ever knew.” And she wants her sister to be remembered as sweet, kind, loving, talented and brilliant.

“Her creativity had no bounds, you know? And she could dream bigger than anybody,” Stella Parton said. “And I want young people, young– young girls and boys that may think they have no opportunity to dream, coming from our situation; she gave us permission to dream that way.”

EXCLUSIVE:A GOP insider making the conservative case for regulating artificial intelligence development predicts President Donald Trump’s full-throated support for data center expansion will soon change after he hears from the American people on the midterm campaign trail.

In an interview with Fox News Digital, Amy Kremer, a close Trump ally, Republican National Committee member and founder of “Humans First,” warned that the voice of the average American is being left out of the ongoing AI data center debate. She believes that is about to change as the president prepares to hit the campaign trail in support of Republicans ahead of the midterms this fall.

Right now, Kremer asserted that Trump is “only hearing one side of the story from big tech.”

“He’s getting ready to go out on the campaign trail, and I think he’s going to hear more from the American people on the data center side of things. And I hope he does,” she said, adding, “I know the president, and his heart, and he would not like the way the Americans are being treated.”

MAGA BEGINS TO CRACK AS 2026 GOP ROSTER BACKS AWAY FROM TRUMP’S TECH VISION

Kremer was pivotal in founding the modern Tea Party movement and through the years established several pro-Trump political action committees, including the “Great America PAC,” the first and largest grassroots organization founded in 2016 to support then-candidate Trump.

Now, she is the chairwoman of “Humans First,” a political group calling for an “America First approach to AI” that it says would keep the U.S. ahead of China while protecting American families, communities and jobs.

She said that while Trump has made it clear that he wants America to lead on AI development, she believes that innovation and safety are “not mutually exclusive.”

“I love the president. He has been an amazing president. I know he wants us to lead the world in technology and innovation, and I support him in that,” she said, while noting, “There’s this narrative out there that [with] innovation, you have to forego safety, and it’s just not accurate. It’s not true.”

TEA PARTY FOUNDER LAUNCHES NATIONWIDE ‘DATA CENTER REVOLT’ AGAINST AI DATA CENTER EXPANSION

As the GOP gathers in Dallas for its first midterm convention, Humans First unveiled a new data center policy outline that it is urging the president and Republicans in Congress and state legislatures to adopt. The plan, obtained exclusively by Fox News Digital, calls for greater local control over data center development and rejects the use of eminent domain for land seizures.

The plan opposes federal and state “efforts to strip communities of that authority,” including through a federal data center moratorium, which many opponents of AI development have called for. Instead, the plan calls for local communities to be given the ability to welcome or reject new data center developments through zoning and land-use processes.

Additionally, the plan rejects what it describes as “blank-check tax breaks” and subsidies and states that “any incentives must be transparent and tied to enforceable benefits for the community.”

The plan calls for full transparency on data center development, stating that “before approval, communities deserve to know the project’s end user, electricity demand, water use, land requirements, infrastructure costs, tax incentives, permanent jobs and environmental impacts.”

It also calls for protection for ratepayers so that families and small businesses do not pay higher electric bills. Instead, it states that data centers should pay the full cost of the power generation, transmission, grid upgrades and infrastructure they require.

TRUMP SAYS GOVERNORS, MAYORS SHOULD WELCOME AI DATA CENTERS NATIONWIDE

Two other provisions address some of the most controversial aspects of AI data center development: local water usage and development on farmland, which the plan refers to as a “strategic American resource that should be protected.”

The way Kremer put it? She posited that “there are more regulations on a hot dog that you buy on a street corner in New York City than there are on these big tech companies with this technology.”

“We are not anti-AI, we’re not anti-technology, and we’re not anti-data centers,” she explained. “What we are is we want the American people to have a seat at the table and a voice in this conversation.”

“We can lead on innovation, we absolutely can,” she said. “But that doesn’t mean that it has to be on the backs of the American taxpayers.”
