Mamdani said $131.5 million is ‘largest settlement for food delivery workers ever secured’ in US municipal history

Following an investigation into 152 million payments, New York City secured a landmark $131 million settlement with DoorDash for violating minimum pay standards. More than 260,000 delivery workers who were underpaid between April 2022 and June 2026 will receive direct payments starting in late October. The food delivery giant must also submit compliance data for three years.

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani blasted DoorDash CEO Tony Xu for encouraging the use of a “greedy algorithm” while announcing the city’s historic $131 million settlement with DoorDash over the company’s alleged withholding of delivery driver tips.

“Two months ago, Tony Xu, the CEO of DoorDash, gave business owners a piece of advice. A CEO, he said, has to take the greedy algorithm and keep going all the way to see if there is more,” Mamdani said during a Tuesday news conference, recalling remarks Xu made on a podcast released in July.

“In computer science, a greedy algorithm is one that makes the most optimized, best short-term outcome choice at every step and never weighs the consequences. New York City and the tens of thousands of delivery workers who call our city home have reckoned with greed as a business model for far too long,” Mamdani continued.

“Thousands of them deliver for DoorDash, and thousands of them have felt the human cost of the greedy algorithm,” he added.

At the news conference, Mamdani announced a historic $131.5 million settlement between DoorDash and the city of New York after the city’s Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP) discovered that the company was systematically underpaying delivery drivers.

Mamdani said the $131.5 million marked the “largest settlement for food delivery workers ever secured in American municipal history.”

From the settlement, $115 million will go directly back to delivery workers, with some in line to receive up to $5,000. The rest will go toward fines and the development of software that will allow delivery workers to record the DoorDash app and share data about their payment with the city.

“For the first time, workers will have the power to crowdsource data and investigate the black box algorithms that dictate their schedules and pay,” Mamdani announced.

Under the settlement, DoorDash will also be required to regularly submit delivery worker payment data to the city for three years.

DoorDash admitted to underpaying workers, though claimed it was unintentional.

“Simply put, we screwed up,” DoorDash said in a statement obtained by the Associated Press.

“While these mistakes weren’t intentional, that doesn’t make them okay. We pride ourselves on operational excellence at DoorDash – and this was not excellent, nor was it acceptable. Dashers should be paid in full, on time, every time. We are sorry to the Dashers we let down,” the company said.

But while the company characterized the underpayments as a slip-up, Mamdani said the company’s alleged misconduct was no accident.

“For years, DoorDash failed to count every hour worked by delivery workers. This was not a rounding error or an accidental mistake. In 2023, when the city began enforcing a minimum pay rate for delivery workers, DoorDash left time out of the count, time on canceled trips and trips that crossed city limits,” he said Tuesday.

Fox News Digital contacted DoorDash for further comment on Mamdani’s remarks.

Mamdani’s announcement marks the latest in his ongoing crusade against food delivery conglomerates.

In January, he announced a $5 million settlement with a group of companies that included Uber Eats for failing to pay drivers minimum wage. In April, his administration secured a $875,000 settlement with HungryPanda for allegedly charging area businesses illegal junk fees.

Apple settlement offers eligible iPhone owners up to $95. Here is how to file a claim.

The claim window is now open for an Apple settlement announced earlier this year, giving certain iPhone users the chance to get up to $95.

Apple agreed to pay $250 million to settle claims that it misled customers about Siri’s Apple Intelligence features. Customers who were part of the class action lawsuit said they purchased iPhones expecting certain Siri features they allegedly did not receive.

“The $250 million settlement fund represents the largest false advertising settlement in history,” Ryan Clarkson, co-lead counsel on the class-action lawsuit and founder and managing partner of Clarkson Law Firm, said in an email to CBS News.

Apple declined to comment. The company has previously denied the allegations. According to the settlement agreement, the settlement shall “not be construed in any fashion as an admission of liability or wrongdoing by Apple.”

Here’s what to know about eligibility and how to file a claim.

How do I file a claim?

iPhone users can visit SmartphoneAISettlement.com to file a claim, according to a spokesperson for Clarkson Law Firm, a public interest law firm.

The person must input basic personal information, including their name, address and phone number. They must also enter their iPhone’s serial number, which can be found in the phone’s Settings section.

Once they finish inputting that information, they can select the payment method. The options are PayPal, Venmo, direct deposit or check.

As SmartphoneAISettlement.com points out, consumers are limited to “one cash payment per eligible device.” If they purchased another iPhone that meets the eligibility requirements, they must complete a separate claim form.

How do I know if I am eligible?

If you bought an iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, or any iPhone 16 model between June 10, 2024, and March 29, 2025, you’re eligible to file a claim.

According to SmartphoneAISettlement.com, the person filing a claim must be the person who originally purchased the device. The phone must also be for personal or professional use, not for resale.

How long do I have to file a claim?

The claims window is open until Dec. 21, 2026.

How much money will I receive?

Customers who submit a valid claim form will initially get $25 per eligible device. However, that amount may be increased up to $95 or decreased depending on the “total number of valid claims submitted and other factors,” the claims website says.

When will I get the payment?

A district court in San Jose, California, will hold a hearing on Feb. 24, 2027, to decide whether to approve the settlement. If there are any appeals, it could delay the payment process.

“If there is no appeal, your settlement benefit will be processed promptly,” according to the claim website.

A Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate from Arkansas is facing scrutiny for comments she recently made on a podcast suggesting that illegal alien workers are more valuable than their American counterparts.

“I want to talk about the fact that our immigration system is backlogged, bureaucratic and doesn’t actually help anybody, including American employers who want folks who want to follow the law,” Hallie Shoffner said on the “Free Arkansas Podcast” during an hour-long discussion about a wide spectrum of political issues.

Shoffner, a farmer, is running against Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark. in the deep red state.

She continued by saying she had a discussion with a fellow farmer, who she said was a Republican, about foreign labor.

“Labor is a huge issue, especially when you don’t have a large workforce,” she said. “And every farmer will tell you, ‘yeah, at one point we did, or still do, employ undocumented immigrants.’ And it’s absolutely ridiculous that these folks are being rounded up because they’re hardworking people. They’re some of the best people we know.”

“And honestly, we’d trade five Americans just for one of them because of how hard they work,” she said.

Shoffner then demanded a pathway for illegal aliens to work in the United States legally, claiming “when they’re good workers, we pay them well, they’re good workers, they spend money here [and] they have family here.”

Cotton’s campaign accused Shoffner of implying that she has hired illegal aliens.

“Hallie Shoffner’s campaign isn’t denying that she employed illegal aliens,” campaign spokesman James Arnold told Fox News Digital. “They’re also standing by Hallie Shoffner’s claim that just one illegal immigrant is more valuable than five American citizens.”

“Every Democrat running for Congress needs to answer if they agree with Hallie Shoffner’s belief that illegal aliens are worth more than Americans,” Arnold said.

In a response to Fox News Digital, Shoffner’s campaign manager Anna-Lee Pittman said the candidate’s comments were taken out of context, and accused Cotton of being unwilling to have a conversation to help “fix the immigration system.”

Cotton, she said, “spends his days combing through video clips of Hallie Shoffner to find any possible inelegant phrase or line that he can chop up to misrepresent an hour-long conversation and present it with no context,” noting that “[i]n this response, Shoffner relayed a conversation she had with another farmer about challenges with labor.”

Shoffner once joined the chorus of left-wing calls to defund U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

“I would vote to defund ICE as it exists right now,” Shoffner said in an event June. “Immigration and Customs Enforcement was created not that long ago, and it no longer serves the purpose it was originally created for.”

“I would not spend one more dime on ICE, because — not just because of the human dignity issue — but also the fact that it is now the largest law enforcement agency in the country,” she said. “It has 10 times the budget of the organization that fights child sex trafficking.”

But in a Facebook post earlier this month, the red state Democratic candidate changed her tune.

“I don’t want to defund ICE, I want to reform it,” she said.

Immigration is a hotbed issue heading into the midterm elections, as it was two years ago during President Donald Trump’s campaign to occupy the White House for a second term.

The Trump administration has carried out immigration operations nationwide to arrest and deport illegal aliens, drawing blowback from Democrat politicians and activists.

ShinyHunters hackers say they breached FBI, stole data on bureau employees

WASHINGTON, Sept 22 (Reuters) – The digital extortion group known as “ShinyHunters” said ​on Tuesday that it had breached the Federal Bureau of Investigation and stolen ‌data on a huge number of current and former FBI employees.

The bureau did not respond to repeated messages seeking comment on Tuesday.

In a statement posted to its dark-web site and during an online chat with Reuters, ShinyHunters ​said it had targeted the FBI in response to a May 2026 agency announcement ​that detailed ShinyHunters’ methods and advised targets not to pay. It said ⁠it had stolen data “on almost ALL FBI Agents, and individuals who filed an application with ​the FBI for a job.”

As proof, the group offered what it said was a screenshot of ​a vandalized FBI job site and what it described as a small sample of its stolen data.

Reuters could not verify the authenticity of the screenshot, but the job site did appear to have experienced recent disruption. A ​message posted to the site on Tuesday said that both it and the FBI “Special Agent ​Applicant Portal” were “currently unavailable.”

Reuters was able to partially verify the authenticity of some of the allegedly stolen FBI ‌personnel information ⁠by running the names, postal address details, and Social Security numbers against credit bureau records and previously breached data preserved by the dark-web intelligence firm District 4 Labs.

In at least nine cases, Reuters found that the details appeared to match. However, the news agency could not establish ​where the data came ​from, or whether it ⁠had been stolen from the FBI’s internal systems as the hackers claimed. Attempts to reach the people whose details were in the sample data ​were unsuccessful.

ShinyHunters is one of the world’s most notorious and attention-seeking ​hacking crews. Its ⁠recent break-ins include the purported theft of millions of business records from video game developer Rockstar Games, the maker of “Grand Theft Auto,” and a May intrusion centered on education tool Canvas that caused widespread disruption across ​US ​schools. Earlier this month, AI company Anthropic said it had ​caught ShinyHunters-linked hackers trying to use its tools.

On Sunday, the group told Reuters it had gone to war against another notorious cybercrime ​group, cl0p, in a rare bout of public score-settling.

3 guys hacked OpenAI using a rival Anthropic model. Here’s what it shows about frontier labs’ vulnerabilities.

Three cybersecurity researchers in India were able to hack OpenAI using a rival AI model from Anthropic, revealing that advanced artificial intelligence can put the companies themselves, and their users, at risk of attack.

Mohan Pedhapati, one of the three researchers from a company called Hacktron who broke into OpenAI, said that more advanced AI models allow veteran hackers like him to do their work much more easily — and raise the risks of criminals doing the same. He described each new model as “a force multiplier” that empowers hacking.

“As the models progress, they become very capable in cyber,” he said.

In a report published last week, Hacktron detailed how, in late July, they used Claude models to infiltrate users of OpenAI’s community forum. The forum is a space where users of ChatGPT and Codex, OpenAI’s coding agent, might go to ask questions about the products. Users can sign in with their OpenAI accounts.

The Hacktron researchers used Claude Opus 4.8 to find flaws in the code of a third-party service called Discourse, used for the OpenAI community forum. They tried to use Opus 4.8 to exploit the flaw, but were unsuccessful. However, that very same night, a more advanced model, Claude Opus 5, was released.

The next day, the Hacktron team could access the ChatGPT and Codex accounts of a subset of OpenAI users who were on the community forum. This was yet another reminder of the lightning speed of AI development — of how, in this case, literally overnight, capabilities can change in the AI world.

Once Hacktron had access to users’ ChatGPT and Codex accounts, the researchers said they also could have gained access to apps connected to these accounts, including email apps and Slack. They had the ability to see whatever conversations the users were having on ChatGPT. Some of those users included OpenAI employees, whose accounts were connected to other apps as well, like internal OpenAI email.

“Everything that you’re talking to ChatGPT [about] — we could leak it. We could get access to it,” Pedhapati said. “I can see whatever you’re talking to ChatGPT with. Like all the personal stuff or the private stuff.”

The Wall Street Journal first reported on Hacktron’s OpenAI report.

It’s common for big tech companies to offer “bug bounties.” These are payments made to outside security researchers — sometimes called “ethical hackers” — who discover security vulnerabilities in the larger company’s digital infrastructure. Find a flaw, document it and share it with the company, and you may get paid a bounty — thousands of dollars or, rarely, millions.

OpenAI has offered several bug bounties. This is what Hacktron was doing when it broke in. Their goal was to help OpenAI by pointing out gaps in their security, and then gain access to one of their more capable cyber models that have fewer guardrails.

“We are the good guys,” said Pedhapati.

Pedhapati said that it would have taken him two to three months to perform a hack like this without the help of Claude.

“That’s me doing it alone without any help,” he said. “But if you add these models, that changes the equation.” The entire hack took the Hacktron team less than three days.

Newer models from both Anthropic and OpenAI have been released since then, and Pedhapati estimates it could now take him less than a day to perform such a hack. Pedhapati and the small team at Hacktron have also hacked Apple, Google, Facebook, Discord and Microsoft Teams in the past, he said.

Pedhapati is worried that companies like OpenAI are not as secure as they need to be, considering how powerful their AI models are.

“You need to assume everyone can hack you, and then build your things based on that. On that trend, I think many of the labs are not doing it well,” he said. “OpenAI, Anthropic, they’re just, I think, speed running.”

The Hacktron team didn’t have to exploit OpenAI directly to gain access to its users’ accounts. They only had to find a flaw in one of the many third-party services used by OpenAI.

“Every company has a dependency that goes deep and deep. You don’t need to find a vulnerability in OpenAI source code itself, you can go one step down,” Pedhapati said. “It spirals up and comes back to the company that uses it.”

In a statement to CBS News, OpenAI thanked the researchers for sharing their findings.

“We narrowed the permissions on Community sign-in tokens and revoked affected tokens and sessions,” an OpenAI spokesperson said.

AI companies and their employees, in the wake of the Hugging Face hack, are speaking more openly of concerns about society-wide risks of powerful AI.

“Like many technologies before it, AI brings risks, and because it is such a powerful technology, these risks are serious,” Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei recently told CBS News.

One of those risks is that the models themselves could be stolen, particularly the “weights” that help make these models so capable. For years, researchers have worried that even if companies developing powerful internal models don’t release them to the public, foreign adversaries or criminals could still steal them. If a small company like Hacktron can hack into OpenAI in a few days, an enemy state could likely do it as well, possibly even faster.

“I think unquestionably that the labs’ technology is national security relevant. We’ve seen that from the administration here and from governments across the world,” said Nicholas Leiserson, a cybersecurity policy expert at the Institute for Security and Technology.

Despite some recent statements from AI leaders acknowledging a need to slow down development, pushing the frontier as fast as possible has, for years, been the priority for labs like OpenAI, Leiserson said.

“Is that a comfortable place for us to land? Is that somewhere that we as a society feel is the appropriate risk level? Because right now it is the labs who are making that determination, and we’ve seen where they’ve landed.”

More than three years after the tragic deaths of his three children, Patrick Clancy continues to navigate unimaginable grief as the case thrusts him into the spotlight, bringing public scrutiny and speculation.

Lindsay Clancy’s lawyers never denied that she killed her three children. Their argument was that she was suffering from postpartum psychosis at the time and was not criminally responsible. But that didn’t stop online sleuths from scrutinizing Patrick’s actions, dissecting his testimony and questioning his character.

The 5-week trial became a national obsession, sparking conversations about mental health, criminal fault and how the medical system fails mothers. The case ended in a mistrial, and prosecutors have yet to determine whether Lindsay Clancy will be retried. Her lawyers have asked a judge to investigate the conduct of the lone juror who sought to convict Clancy and, in another motion, to dismiss the case.

We met Patrick in New York City for a conversation about his grief, his ex-wife’s struggles with mental illness, and the social media frenzy surrounding him. Here are some emotional moments from our interview.

Patrick’s final moments with son Callan

While 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson, tragically died at the scene, Patrick’s infant son Callan somehow survived and was airlifted to Boston Children’s Hospital.

At first, Patrick didn’t have any details about Callan’s condition other than learning that doctors were able to get a heartbeat back.

“I really thought there was a chance that Callan would live. And I remember just thinking, ‘Just give me one. Just give me one kid, and I would raise him as best I could, and I would give him the best life I possibly could. I’d tell him about his brother and sister.’ And I was holding out hope for that. And then when I got to the hospital, I saw the doctor. I saw the look on her face, and I knew that it wasn’t going to be a good prognosis,” he said.

Callan’s heart kept beating for four days.

“I’m so grateful for those four days that I had with him. And I’m so grateful he hung on,” Patrick said.

During those four days, Patrick said he was able to talk to Callan and hold him.

“I said, ‘I’m so sorry.’ And I got to hold him. I got to lay down next to him. And he died in my arms.”

During those hours with Callan, Patrick sat and wrote tributes to each of his three children, typing with one hand while he held his baby’s hand with the other. He said he was afraid if he didn’t write about them they’d be forgotten.

A panic attack the day the 911 call was played in court

Patrick was the prosecution’s first witness. As he took the stand, online influencers quickly began dissecting his testimony and pushing theories questioning his character.

“It’s deeply harmful to the legacy of my children. It is a huge distraction from what really matters here, which is perinatal mental health. And it’s done real harm to real people, myself included but also others,” Patrick said of the viral speculation surrounding the case.

He said the attention has made everyday life more difficult.

“It’s painful to see. And it makes it difficult to be in public and it’s possible that some of those people after seeing lie after lie after lie, they start to believe it and that’s what we’re left with,” he added.

One of the catalysts for these theories was Patrick’s apparent stoicism on the stand.

“Testifying is very difficult,” he said, recounting the day his 911 call played in court. He remembered taking a break in the back room right before the call was going to be presented.

“And I went to a back room, and I started having this massive traumatic panic attack. My heart was pounding,” he said.

He recalled being put in an ambulance and being offered medication, which he refused.

“I said, “I don’t want it, ’cause I want to go back and I want to finish this so I can be done with this.” And I went back and I finished the testimony,” he said.

“The grief is just so heavy that it makes me quiet”

Patrick said he finds “little reminders” of his children in his daily life, but he also said he makes a conscious effort to keep their memories alive.

“And it’s hard sometimes. I’ve had people say to me, you know, ‘Pat, you were really quiet today.’ But they don’t know the things that are playing over and over and over again in my head. They don’t know that the scenes are playing over and over again from that night or that the grief is just so heavy that it makes me quiet,” he said.

He tries to hang onto the good memories — like Cora’s first plane ride, watching Dawson grab his tool belt to work on a project and sitting in the play pen with Callan.

“When you think about them this way, is it good or is it painful or is it both?” Ross Douthat asked.

“It’s both. But I love, I love the memories. I don’t avoid the good memories. I really never do. The bad ones I avoid. I really try not to think about them. I mean, it’s traumatic and that can be overwhelming. I’ve never felt like the good memories are overwhelming. I hang onto those,” he said.

The treatment that helped him the most

Patrick said he found a treatment that’s a “little unusual” called EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) that has helped him heal the most.

The therapy, commonly used to treat PTSD, involves guided eye movements while processing traumatic memories.

“They put you right back in that place that you’ve been trying to avoid for years. And you face it head-on. And it’s unpleasant, but they get you used to dealing with that. And eventually you’re better at processing it,” Patrick explained.

After several sessions, Patrick said the “waking up screaming” and the “horrible dreams” mostly stopped.

“I mean, it was like a miracle,” he said.

How he met his wife, Dr. Rachel Danis

Dr. Rachel Danis, a fertility doctor, says they met in January of 2024 at a run club in New York. They got to know each other over coffee.

At the time, Rachel said she hoped it would simply lead to a good friendship. And that’s how it remained for the next few months until Patrick came to one of her races and met her sister, who has Down syndrome.

“There must have been a moment, maybe it was a different moment for each of you, right, where the switch flipped, and you were, like, this is something we’re doing,” Ross Douthat said.

Rachel said it was the day of a half marathon. After the race, she met Patrick and some other run club friends to celebrate.

“And I think you can tell a lot about someone when they’re interacting with a person with special needs,” said Rachel, describing Patrick as “really friendly” and “really warm.”

“I didn’t know at the time, but Pat had taken a candid photo of me with my sister Lauren and we were just hugging,” she continued, adding, “I just love her so much, and Pat really saw what matters to me.”

Rachel and Patrick got married in April of this year in Central Park.

Virginia Gov. Abigail Spanberger’s data center plan is facing criticism that one of its key provisions may work against itself: Limits on on-site natural gas generation could make it harder, not easier, for large data centers to support Virginia’s already-stressed electric grid.

The stakes are high because Virginia is already struggling to keep up with rapidly growing data-center electricity demand, especially in Northern Virginia, where demand is outpacing the expansion of transmission lines and substations. Restricting on-site natural gas generation could make it harder for large data centers to add dependable power at a time when the state is trying to stabilize the grid while also shifting toward cleaner energy sources.

“Everyone recognizes the need for changes in how Virginia engages with data centers. But the Governor’s proposal is internally contradictory and raises serious questions about whether it can actually work,” Virginia House Minority Leader Terry Kilgore told Fox News Digital.

Spanberger’s Data Center Accountability Framework calls for data centers to help stabilize the electric grid while limiting the amount of electricity they can generate from on-site natural gas.

Kilgore, R-Gate City, noted that the plan states data centers should source their “own clean power” while at the same time seeking to “limit the amount of electricity data centers can generate from … natural gas.”

The plan also calls for accelerated clean energy development and prioritizes grid access for data centers that invest in “clean energy” or “further limit on-site natural gas generation.”

“And if they fail to meet the governor’s preferred energy standards, they could face higher taxes,” Kilgore said.

“What reliable, dispatchable source of power is supposed to fill the gap? That’s not a political question: it’s how the grid works.”

A Spanberger spokesperson told Fox News Digital that the governor’s plan is the “most comprehensive and wide-ranging” in the country and that it aims to protect both Virginia residents and the commonwealth’s “natural beauty.”

“The Governor’s plan also ends secrecy around data centers by banning non-disclosure agreements and strengthening local approval. While Governor Spanberger is pushing to hold data centers accountable — an action polling shows is overwhelming supported by Democrats and Republicans — the Trump Administration has continued to dismiss the very real concerns Virginians have about data centers’ energy, water, and land usage,” the spokesperson said.

Spanberger’s plan can still allow data centers to construct on-site power, as the framework only restricts the use of that power.

She also signed a bill by Del. Rip Sullivan, D-Great Falls, that sharply increased Virginia’s goals for energy storage, including a target of 1,600 MW of storage capacity at homes and businesses.

Republicans said they found some common ground with Spanberger on the issue, citing public unease about the explosion in data center construction and stress on resources.

“I am glad the Governor is finally talking about high power bills and data centers. Virginians already are,” Senate Minority Leader Ryan McDougle, R-Hanover, said in a statement obtained by Fox News Digital. “This should not be a partisan issue.”

But he also echoed Kilgore’s concern about the plan’s energy-generation dynamics amid looming zero-emissions requirements.

“Virginians — Democrats, Republicans, and Independents — will tell you the same thing. Their power bills went up. The laws raising electric bills — the tax on carbon, the Virginia Clean Economy Act, solar mandates, and more — should be repealed, and the companies building data centers should pay their own costs,” McDougle said.

At the same time, some top Democrats criticized their governor’s plan.

“The governor is finally feeling the heat but still ignoring the fire,” Senate President Pro-Tem L. Louise Lucas told Richmond’s ABC affiliate.

Lucas, of Portsmouth, said the framework wrongly ignored the need to end tax exemptions for the centers.

The debate comes as Virginia is already in the midst of a state-mandated transition away from carbon-emitting electricity generation under the Virginia Clean Economy Act.

Under the law, the state’s major utilities generally must retire their remaining in-state generating units that emit carbon by burning fuel by the end of 2045. The law also allows utilities to seek relief from those requirements if compliance would threaten the reliability or security of electric service.

Spanberger’s new framework would push qualifying data centers further in that direction, limiting on-site natural gas generation while prioritizing grid access for facilities that invest in clean energy, reduce backup-generator emissions and further restrict their reliance on natural gas.

Kilgore’s argument surfaced new tension: Restricting one source of on-site power before sufficient dependable alternatives are available could create the very reliability challenge Spanberger’s framework says it is intended to prevent.

The issue is particularly acute in Northern Virginia, where data-center electricity demand is growing faster than the transmission lines and substations needed to serve it can be expanded, according to Loudoun County.

In Northern Virginia’s so-called data center alley, officials are already troubleshooting how to stabilize the grid as an explosion in data center construction puts massive sites among densely populated subdivisions.

There, Loudoun County leaders say the typical data center requires a continuous supply of 30 to 200 MW — enough to otherwise power 200,000 average homes.

The county’s explanation of data center development considerations also specifically lists “natural gas reciprocating engines” as one of the avenues for onsite power, appearing to contradict the push by the governor away from the fuel source.

Fox News Digital reached out to Rep. Suhas Subramanyam, D-Va., for additional comment on the matter because he represents the county in Congress and has been a top voice in the data center debate.

Earlier this month, Subramanyam introduced the National Data Center Plan, which would similarly require data centers to pay for their own energy, analyze their effects on the community, environment and national security before beginning construction.

The debate leaves the central dispute over Spanberger’s data-center plan unresolved: whether clean generation, battery storage and flexible demand can provide enough dependable power to accommodate Virginia’s rapidly growing data-center load as the state simultaneously restricts on-site natural gas generation.

WASHINGTON, Sept 22 (Reuters) – US President Donald Trump bought as much as $50,000 worth of shares and ​sold as much as $15,000 in Elon Musk’s SpaceX in July, ‌according to a public financial disclosure, his latest transactions involving a government contractor run by his former adviser.

Trump bought between $15,001 and $50,000 worth of shares ​in SpaceX on July 10, according to a financial disclosure ​he signed on September 8. He sold between $1,001 and $15,000 ⁠worth of shares on July 17, according to the same ​disclosure.

The latest trades add a new financial link between the president ​and Musk’s rocket company at a time when the administration is making decisions that could affect the firm’s fortunes.

SpaceX priced the biggest-ever US IPO on June ​12, valuing the space, satellite and AI provider at $1.77 trillion. ​Reuters previously reported that Trump bought shares in SpaceX in June.

In a statement to ‌Reuters ⁠at the time, White House spokesman Davis Ingle said third-party financial institutions independently manage the president’s portfolio and replicate “recognized indexes, such as the Schwab 1000.”

Trump’s spokesperson did not immediately respond to a ​request for comment ​about the July ⁠trades.

The purchase and sale were among more than 1,000 trades the president made in July. The ​Office of Government Ethics, the team responsible for ​collecting ethics ⁠disclosures from US officials, posted the form on its website on Tuesday.

Reuters could not immediately determine the precise amount of Trump’s investment ⁠because ​federal officials use ranges to declare the ​value of their assets on their financial disclosure forms.

SpaceX is a US military contractor, and ​often seeks approvals from federal agencies.

Trump signs Greenland deal giving U.S. broad military authority on the island

Washington— The U.S., Denmark and Greenland on Tuesday signed a new security agreement bolstering the United States’ military and security presence on the island in the North Atlantic, the culmination of years of tensions over the future of the Danish territory.

President Trump, Greenland Premier Jens-Frederik Nielsen and Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen signed the security agreement on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. The White House released the text of the deal shortly after the signing ceremony.

The agreement reaffirms the sovereignty of Greenland, which is part of the Kingdom of Denmark, but gives the U.S. broad access to the island’s airspace and territory.

The plan allows the U.S. to expand the existing Pituffik Space Base, the northernmost U.S. military installation which serves as an early-warning system for incoming missiles. The agreement also says the U.S. can establish additional bases at the sites known as Narsarsuaq and Mestersvig, which are roughly 950 miles apart. Any of the three parties can propose more “defense areas” as needed, subject to approval by the others.

The deal, which has no expiration date, also blocks non-NATO countries from establishing bases on the island without agreement from the parties. The agreement persists even if Greenland eventually becomes independent from Denmark. It intensifies screening for foreign investment from non-NATO and non-European Union members, a move aimed at blocking influence from China and Russia.

The leaders of Greenland and Denmark emphasized that the deal was a reflection of the changing security landscape in the Arctic. Mr. Trump has long toyed with the possibility of acquiring Greenland, by force if necessary, drawing criticism from NATO allies.

“We’re going to have a tremendous relationship, a secure relationship, and we look forward to it,” Mr. Trump said. “We’ll be working very hard and very much in conjunction with each other, and it’s just a real honor to be here.”

Nielsen said the “world has changed a great deal since 1951,” referring to a previous security pact that the new deal amends. Nielsen said the people of Greenland “recognize the long-term security threats that you, Mr. President, have rightly spoken about.”

“This agreement should put to rest any doubt today and in the future about where Greenland’s loyalty lies,” Nielsen said.

Frederiksen said the deal respects the “territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Denmark, as well as Greenland’s right to self-determination.”

In his speech before the U.N. General Assembly immediately prior to signing the deal, Mr. Trump said the agreement allows for the U.S. to build two new bases in Greenland. The U.S. already has an active military base in Greenland.

“This agreement, made with the Kingdom of Denmark, an incredible, beautiful country, and the Greenland people itself, gives the United States permanent control over security and all other needs on that territory,” Mr. Trump said. “We will have the complete ability to do what is necessary to defend the American continent and also Europe and other places. No U.S. adversary will ever be permitted to establish a military presence in Greenland anymore, or make sensitive investments there without our express written approval.”
