US offers $20 million reward for information on Iran’s nuclear program

The State Department’s Rewards for Justice program is seeking details on nuclear scientists, technologies and capabilities

The U.S. is offering up to $20 million to anyone with information on Iran’s nuclear program.

“If you have information on Iran’s nuclear program, assets, or associated individuals, send it to us via Signal or our Tor-based tip line. You may be eligible for a reward and relocation,” the U.S. Department of State’s Rewards for Justice program said in an announcement posted to X.

The State Department said it was seeking information on “nuclear scientists and staff, nuclear program-related technologies, and capabilities, associated organizations and personnel.”

“The U.S. government remains committed to countering any attempt by Iran to develop a nuclear weapons program,” the agency added.

The announcement comes as President Donald Trump considers renewed military strikes against Iran while Washington and Tehran continue negotiations over the country’s nuclear program.

President Trump announced that Stephen Miller would replace Susie Wiles as White House chief of staff just hours after he told 60 Minutes that he’d be shaking up his team.

When 60 Minutes Correspondent Ross Douthat asked Mr. Trump whether he expected to fire anyone after Republicans lost both chambers of Congress, the president said: “I do, yeah. Little bit.”

“I love my Cabinet. I think they’re good,” he said. “But I’ll … be doing maybe a few changes.”

Mr. Trump suggested Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is safe for now, despite CBS News reporting that he asked advisers this week whether the Pentagon chief should stick around. When Douthat asked whether he has confidence in Hegseth, Mr. Trump said: “I do.”

“Look, we’ve won two wars. We’ve won Venezuela and taken out billions and billions and billions of dollars already. And we will be taking out many billions of dollars and get along very well. And, you could call it a territory, you could call it whatever you want. We won that war in less than one hour,” Mr. Trump said.

After announcing Wiles’ departure on Friday, Mr. Trump told reporters he “wanted to make a change,” adding, “sometimes in life, you have to make moves.” Wiles submitted her resignation on Thursday, a move that was tied to the GOP’s midterm defeats, CBS News reported.

Wiles is among the most powerful people to leave the Trump administration. A few Cabinet officials departed earlier this year — Attorney General Pam Bondi, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer — but otherwise, the president who rose to nationwide fame by firing people on television has largely left his team intact.

美国对古巴实行的新一轮制裁波及中国企业，中国商务部敦促美国尽快纠正错误做法，并强调中国保留“采取必要措施、维护自身正当权益的权利”。

据中国商务部网站消息，商务部星期六（11月7日）以发言人答记者问形式回应称，美国以涉及第三方为由，对中国企业采取单边制裁，违反国际法和国际关系基本准则，中方对此坚决反对。

中国商务部还指，近期美方升级对中方制裁打压，密集出台多项歧视性限制措施，严重损害中国企业权益，背离两国元首达成的重要共识，破坏中美经贸关系稳定。

自今年1月以来，美国对古巴实施新一轮严厉制裁及石油封锁，重创古巴经济。美国总统特朗普曾暗示可能采取军事行动，推翻古巴执政的共产党。

Man with guns arrested near White House, told Secret Service he planned to kill Trump, DHS says

An undocumented immigrant armed with several weapons was taken into custody within blocks of the White House Thursday night after he allegedly told Secret Service officers that he was planning an attempt on President Trump’s life, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security said.

The suspect, identified as Ronny Yordrix Guanipa Chrinos of Venezuela, was arrested on three counts each of unlawful transportation of a firearm, carrying unregistered firearms and carrying unregistered ammunition, along with one count each of possession of certain dangerous weapons, carrying a pistol without a license, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, theft and receiving stolen property, DHS said in a news release Friday.

Secret Service officers observed the suspect acting suspiciously in his vehicle and approached him while he was parked on Constitution Avenue, DHS said. A law enforcement source told CBS News the incident took place in the 1600 block of Constitution Avenue NW, near the Ellipse.

When officers confronted the suspect, DHS said, he allegedly told them that he had heard voices in his head telling him to come to Washington, D.C., and assassinate Mr. Trump.

The Secret Service officers learned the suspect’s vehicle had been reported stolen, DHS said, and the suspect allegedly admitted there were weapons in the vehicle.

When officers searched the vehicle, they found three firearms, including a rifle, as well as dozens of rounds of ammunition, according to DHS, which released a photo of the seized items.

“This is the latest example of Secret Service personnel relying on extensive training and experience to deescalate a volatile situation that posed an imminent threat to our protectees and other Americans,” Secret Service Director Sean Curran said in a statement.

DHS said the suspect entered the U.S. through Texas in March 2024 and was arrested by U.S. Border Patrol, but was later released. It was not immediately clear if he had an attorney.

“Thanks to our brave Secret Service officers, this illegal alien with three firearms in his vehicle was arrested near the White House before he could harm anyone,” Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin said in a separate statement.

Mr. Trump has been the target of multiple assassination attempts since entering political life, most notably a shooting at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, during his second presidential campaign in July 2024 in which a sniper opened fire from the roof of a nearby building, killing one attendee and wounding Mr. Trump and two others.

In April, chaos broke out when a gunman breached security during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner at the Washington Hilton Hotel while Mr. Trump and first lady Melania Trump were in attendance. The suspect was arrested at the scene, and a Secret Service officer was wounded in the incident.
