华盛顿9月9日路透电 — 在美国运输部长肖恩·达菲严厉批评美国第二大汽车制造商福特汽车公司后，国会共和党议员周三加入了对该公司与中国企业商业往来的批评行列。
共和党参议员里克·斯科特称赞达菲“为福特与（中国共产党）企业的高风险关联敲响了警钟”。众议院中国问题特别委员会在X平台上以“福特所言与所行”为标题，发布了有关该公司的言论和媒体关于福特与中国企业商业往来的报道。

达菲周二在致福特首席执行官吉姆·法利的一封信中表示，这家汽车制造商与中国电池制造商宁德时代（CATL）以及中国汽车制造商吉利和比亚迪的往来“引发了严重担忧”。
他敦促福特切断与中国大型企业的联系。
达菲表示，美国运输部对福特在密歇根州马歇尔的工厂依赖中国电池制造商宁德时代授权技术一事“深感震惊”，并指出宁德时代已被列入五角大楼认定的与中国军方有关联的企业名单。
他还批评福特将林肯航海家的生产从中国转移至美国的计划推迟至2030年，称这将使福特在未来数年继续依赖中国制造业。

众议院中国问题委员会主席、共和党众议员约翰·穆尔纳尔称赞达菲“揭露了福特对包括宁德时代和吉利在内的中国企业日益加深的依赖”。穆尔纳尔补充道：“福特应该与我国的盟友合作，而非我们的对手。”
福特周三未立即置评，但在周二的一份声明中称达菲的“信是为博眼球而做出的愚蠢尝试”。该公司补充称，“当其他企业仍在进口中国电池时，福特正在投资在美国本土制造电池”，并表示“福特拥有这家工厂，掌控运营并雇佣员工”。

Republican lawmakers criticize Ford business ties to China

WASHINGTON, Sept 9 (Reuters) – Republicans in Congress on Wednesday joined criticism of Ford Motor over its business ties to Chinese firms after Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy sharply criticized the No. 2 U.S. automaker.
Republican Senator Rick Scott praised Duffy for “sounding the alarm about Ford’s risky ties to (Chinese Communist Party) companies.” The House Select Committee on China posted on X comments from the company and media reports about Ford’s business dealings with Chinese firms under the title: “This is what Ford says vs. what it does.”

Duffy in a letter to Ford CEO Jim Farley sent on Tuesday said the automaker’s dealings with Chinese battery maker CATL and Chinese automakers Geely and BYD raised “profound concern.”
He urged Ford to cut ties with major Chinese companies.
Duffy said the transportation department was “deeply alarmed” by Ford’s reliance on licensed technology from Chinese battery manufacturer CATL at its plant in Marshall, Michigan, and noted that CATL is on the Pentagon’s list of companies accused of ties to China’s military.
He also criticized Ford’s decision not to move production of the Lincoln Nautilus from China to the United States until 2030, as it leaves the company reliant on Chinese manufacturing for several more years.

Republican Representative John Moolenaar, the China committee chair, praised Duffy “for calling out Ford’s growing reliance on Chinese companies, including CATL and Geely.” Moolenaar added: “Ford should work with our nation’s allies, not our adversaries.”
Ford did not immediately comment Wednesday but in a statement Tuesday said Duffy’s “letter is a wrongheaded attempt to capture headlines.” The company added that “while others continue to import Chinese batteries, Ford is investing to build batteries here in America” and added that “Ford owns the plant, controls the operation and employs the workforce.”
President Donald Trump is set to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping later this month. Duffy’s comments come as Congress is pushing to tighten a ban on Chinese vehicles in the United States.

Duffy’s letter is the latest warning shot across China’s bow ahead of the Xi-Trump meeting. On Tuesday, U.S. officials accused Chinese AI companies of “aggressive, industrial-scale distillation activities.”
Ford shares were down 2% in midday trading to $13.69. Major automakers last week urged Congress to pass the ban before the end of the year.
The Chinese embassy in Washington responded to Duffy’s letter saying, “Normal business cooperation between Chinese and American enterprises should not be politicized. We urge the U.S. side to respect the laws of the market economy and the principle of fair competition.”
