Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent were on a decoy flight last month when President Trump secretly took a different plane from the publicly identified Air Force One aircraft from the NATO summit, according to sources familiar with the situation.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth was on the secret flight with Mr. Trump out of Turkey. White House aides Natalie Harp, Walt Nauta and Dan Scavino were also on catering truck and the flight with Mr. Trump.
Rubio and Bessent, who separated and maintained the line of succession, were aware the president was on another, secret plane. Several other White House aides were on the decoy flight, including Stephen Miller, Will Scharf, Steven Cheung, Mike Needham, Ross Worthington and Monica Crowley.
While the plane the president is traveling on is supposed to be identified as Air Force One, the decoy flight was publicly identified as Air Force One.

On July 8, Mr. Trump announced he would leave Ankara in the old Air Force One rather than a newer Qatari-donated jet that he had taken to the NATO summit. The president said he was switching planes “for old time’s sake,” and U.S. forces stationed at a British refueling stop would be able to check out the new plane, but CBS News has reported that the Secret Service advised he take the older plane for security reasons.

A Washington, DC, judge has ordered the Kennedy Center to pay a jazz artist’s legal fees after the performing arts institution sued him for canceling his performance over the addition of President Donald Trump’s name to the venue.
On Monday, Judge Tanya M. Jones Bosier awarded performer Chuck Redd — who canceled his Christmas Eve show at the center — more than $250,000 and gave the Kennedy Center 45 days to make the payment.
Lisa Banks, one of Redd’s attorneys, told CNN in a statement, “The Trump-controlled Kennedy Center tried to silence opposition to its illegal name change by filing a meritless lawsuit against jazz musician Chuck Redd. The court rightly dismissed that breach of contract lawsuit, finding there was no contract and no damages, and was brought against Mr. Redd based on his protected opposition.”
A spokesperson for the Kennedy Center said the institution intends to appeal the decision.
The Kennedy Center sued Redd in March, arguing that he breached his contract when he canceled his performance less than a week before the show in protest of Trump’s handpicked board voting to rename the building to include the president’s name.
“As a result of Defendant Redd’s malfeasance, the Center was forced to cancel the Christmas Eve Jazz Jam concert at the last minute, depriving hundreds of members of the public the Christmas Concert offered by the Center, and causing the Center reputational, marketing, and concert preparation damages,” a lawyer for the center argued in the lawsuit.
In June, Judge Jones Bosier, an appointee of former President Joe Biden, dismissed the lawsuit, finding that the center failed “to state a valid breach of contract claim” as Redd never signed an agreement prior to his cancelation.
Later that month, after a legal back-and-forth, Trump’s name was removed from the exterior of the building and its website.

Redd, who has hosted the holiday jazz concert for nearly two decades, told CNN in December following the board’s move that he “was saddened to see this name change.”
After Redd’s exit, then-Kennedy Center President Richard Grenell wrote him a letter that sharply criticized his decision.
“Your decision to withdraw at the last moment—explicitly in response to the Center’s recent renaming, which honors President Trump’s extraordinary efforts to save this national treasure—is classic intolerance and very costly to a non-profit Arts institution,” Grenell, a longtime Trump confidant, wrote. Grenell was replaced as the head of the institution in March.
CNN previously reported that following the renaming of the building, several artists pulled out of shows, including the jazz group the Cookers, New York City-based dance company Doug Varone and Dancers and Kristy Lee, a folk singer-songwriter. The center also faced lagging ticket sales during the holiday season.

Washington— The Trump administration is dispatching top officials to help campaign for Iowa Republican candidates over the coming days, including Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer, Small Business Administration Administrator Kelly Loeffler, Veterans Affairs Secretary Doug Collins and U.S. Ambassador to NATO Matt Whitaker, sources familiar with the matter told CBS News.
The Iowa State Fair, which starts Thursday and runs through Aug. 23, is a pivotal window of opportunity for candidates on the campaign trail.
Facing tough races are Republican Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks, who is running against Democrat Christina Bohannan in Iowa’s 1st Congressional District, and Rep. Zach Nunn, who is being challenged by Democrat Sarah Trone Garriott in Iowa’s 3rd Congressional District. Republican Rep. Ashley Hinson is running for U.S. Senate against Democrat Josh Turek.
It’s not clear exactly what the top Trump administration officials will be doing while in Iowa. The Hatch Act is intended to limit the political activities of executive branch employees other than the president or vice president.

8月12日（路透社）——美国联邦监狱管理局表示，社交媒体网红安德鲁·泰特与特里斯坦·泰特 currently被关押的迈阿密联邦监狱近几个月来出现了制冷和供水问题，还发生过在押人员与狱警的冲突。
现年39岁的安德鲁·泰特与38岁的特里斯坦·泰特于7月18日在迈阿密被捕，英国已向美方提出引渡请求，英国方面指控二人犯有强奸罪。这对曾是职业拳击手的兄弟拥有美国和英国双重国籍，他们否认存在任何不当行为。

他们的律师表示，二人在这座名为迈阿密联邦拘留中心的监狱中遭受了严苛的单独监禁待遇。
自称厌恶女性的安德鲁·泰特在网上拥有大量追随者，他宣扬自己的男子气概观点，他在被关押期间于X平台上发帖称，自己被迫饮用不洁的水并因此生病，夜间会被隔壁牢房的尖叫囚犯吵醒，且被剥夺了每日一小时的锻炼时间。

发言人表示，监狱在7月1日出现水压问题，次日便已解决。他说，狱方已为在押人员提供瓶装水，在押人员也可以根据申请领取更多瓶装水。
该监狱还出现过空调故障问题。据尤塞特-杜蒙和另一位要求匿名的知情人士透露，上个月，部分移民在押人员因酷热拒绝遵守锁闭牢房的命令，引发了与狱警的冲突。
美国联邦监狱管理局发言人表示，7月11日的事件正在调查中，并补充称“情绪激动且具有对抗性”的在押人员就投诉问题与狱警对峙，狱警向空气中喷洒辣椒喷雾以控制局面。

Not a Marriott: Tate brothers held in solitary confinement in Miami jail

Aug 12 (Reuters) – The federal jail in Miami where social media influencers Andrew and Tristan Tate are being held has suffered from cooling and water problems and a confrontation between detainees and staff in recent months, the U.S. Bureau of Prisons said.
Brothers Andrew Tate, 39, and Tristan Tate, 38, were arrested in Miami on July 18 on an extradition request from Britain, which has charged them with rape. The former kickboxers who have dual U.S. and British citizenship have denied wrongdoing.

Their lawyers have said they are being held in harsh solitary confinement conditions at the jail, known as Federal Detention Center Miami.
Andrew Tate – a self-described misogynist who has built a large online following promoting his views on masculinity – has said in posts on X during his incarceration that he has been forced to drink unclean water that has made him sick, been kept awake at night by screaming inmates in neighboring cells and denied a daily hour of exercise.
Prosecutors with the U.S. Attorney’s office in Miami said in an August 10 court filing that the Tates are being held for their own safety in the jail’s Special Housing Unit, where inmates are separated from the general population.
“While FDC Miami is not a Marriott, the Tates’ conditions of confinement are reasonable, constitutional and within BOP’s discretion,” the prosecutors wrote.
A spokesperson for the Bureau of Prisons, which operates the high-rise facility close to federal courthouses downtown, said an annual test showed the water at the facility was drinkable.
The Tates are expected on Thursday to urge a federal judge in Miami to release them on bail while they contest their extradition.
FDC Miami primarily holds detainees awaiting trial on federal charges, and had a total population of 1,430 inmates, according to the BOP’s website. It is holding more than 450 immigrants pending deportation proceedings, the BOP spokesperson said.
According to the Tate brothers’ lawyers, their beds are shorter than they are tall and have no pillows. They said the brothers were given no time out of their cells for 11 of their first 15 days in the jail.
“Where are the rights of American citizens?” Andrew Tate said in a July 28 post on X.
A BOP handbook for FDC Miami inmates says they have the right to a “regular exercise period.” Prosecutors said the Tates were allowed out of their cells for hours on an “almost daily” basis for recreation time and meetings with their lawyers.
Asked by reporters on July 27 how Andrew Tate was able to post online from behind bars, defense lawyer Joseph McBride said, “How he gets his message out there into the world is for our team to discuss, but we’re glad that he’s able to get it out there.”
In a July 26 X post, Andrew Tate said he had been suffering stomach problems due to drinking warm water from a “brown and filthy” shower faucet.
Days later, he said he was awoken in the middle of the night by prisoners yelling death threats and later heard a “demonic roar” from a neighboring cell.
“I was unable to sleep and it was too dark to read, so I counted the bricks on the wall,” Andrew Tate wrote in a July 31 X post.
The facility has denied the Tates’ requests that they be housed elsewhere, their lawyers said.
Prosecutors said the brothers have adequate sleeping arrangements, food and access to water, and the ability to ask for extra supplies.
Paul Petruzzi, a criminal defense lawyer who has five clients detained at FDC Miami, said the BOP is not committing enough resources to maintain the facility. He said some rooms meant for meetings with lawyers are unavailable because soaked ceilings collapsed. The BOP spokesperson said water damage to two legal visit rooms was being repaired, but four rooms were available.
Annett Uset-Dumont, whose husband was held at FDC Miami in July pending deportation proceedings, said the water system failed one day and her husband was given just one bottle of water to last 24 hours.
The spokesperson said the jail experienced a water pressure issue on July 1 that was resolved the next day. The spokesperson said inmates were provided bottled water and could receive additional bottles on request.
The facility has also experienced air conditioning malfunctions. Last month, some immigrant detainees resisted orders to lock down in their cells due to the heat, prompting a confrontation with jail staff, according to Uset-Dumont and another person familiar with the facility who spoke on condition of anonymity.
The BOP spokesperson said the events of July 11 are under investigation, adding “agitated and confrontational” inmates had confronted staff about complaints, and staff deployed pepper spray into the air to secure compliance.
The spokesperson said one of the chillers that provides air conditioning malfunctioned on July 6 and has since been fixed.
