The State Department on Tuesday congratulated conservative candidate Keiko Fujimori after she was declared the winner of Peru’s presidential runoff election by a razor-thin margin.

The statement marked a significant milestone in Latin American relations, with Washington signaling it expects to work closely with Fujimori’s administration on shared priorities.

“The United States congratulates President-Elect Keiko Fujimori of Peru on her important electoral victory,” the department said.

“The Trump Administration looks forward to deepening collaboration with the Fujimori Administration to advance security cooperation and to strengthen bilateral cooperation on investment and trade in our region.”

Her victory comes as Washington seeks to strengthen ties with pro-market allies in Latin America amid growing Chinese economic influence in the region.

Beijing recently completed the Chancay deepwater port in Peru — a $1.3 billion mega-project that serves as China’s key logistics hub on the Pacific coast.

Fujimori’s tough stance on organized crime also aligns with U.S. efforts to expand regional security and anti-trafficking cooperation.

Fujimori was declared the winner Monday by Peru’s National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE), the electoral authority responsible for reporting vote count results. The country’s final authority on election matters, the National Jury of Elections (JNE), has yet to issue its official proclamation, according to Reuters.

According to the ONPE, Fujimori secured 50.1% of the vote, winning by fewer than 50,000 votes out of roughly 18 million ballots cast.

Her victory over leftist challenger Roberto Sánchez marks her fourth presidential bid and makes her Peru’s first female president-elect.

The result caps a deeply divisive election cycle in a country that has gone through nine presidents in the past decade.

Fujimori is also the daughter of former Peruvian President Alberto Fujimori, who ruled the country during the 1990s.

Fujimori’s presidency marks a return of her family’s political brand to Peru’s highest office — a movement that has long carried a complicated relationship with the United States.

While Washington once backed her father for his fight against communist guerrillas and economic reforms in the 1990s, the U.S. later condemned his government over the dismantling of democratic institutions and allegations of human rights abuses.

Keiko Fujimori has since spent more than two decades attempting to reshape “Fujimorismo” into a modern conservative, law-and-order political movement.

Peruvians voted in favor of Fujimori amid a surge in violent crime, extortion and years of political instability.

Fujimori campaigned on an “iron fist” approach to security and a pledge to protect Peru’s free-market economy, while her opponent focused on rural economic grievances.

Labor activist Dolores Huerta says Trump “does not know history” with past comments on Mexican people

    June 30, 2026 / 11:24 PM EDT / CBS News

Longtime labor activist Dolores Huerta says President Trump’s disparaging remarks about Mexicans show he “does not know history,” and called on Latinos in California, Texas and other states to push for change in the November elections.

“I just want to say that this is our moment,” the 96-year-old told CBS News.

She recalled the beginning of Mr. Trump’s first presidential campaign: “You know, the first thing when the president came down that escalator, he attacked Mexicans. … He does not know history. He does not know that Texas was once part of Mexico.”

Mr. Trump said in his 2015 campaign launch speech that Mexico was “not sending their best” to the United States, alleging: “They’re bringing drugs, they’re bringing crime, they’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.”

Huerta has been active in politics and civil rights activism since the 1960s, when she and Cesar Chavez co-founded the group that later became the United Farm Workers. She is known for popularizing the Spanish-language slogan “si, se puede,” which has been widely adopted by political and labor movements over the decades, including in 2008, when Barack Obama’s campaign used its English translation: “Yes, we can.” Earlier this year, Huerta drew attention for becoming the latest person to accuse Chavez of sexual misconduct.

Huerta, who spoke at the Texas Democratic Convention over the weekend, was enthusiastic about Democrats’ uphill battle to win their first statewide races in the Lone Star State in decades. State Reps. James Talarico and Gina Hinojosa are the party’s nominees for senator and governor, respectively, taking on Republican candidates Ken Paxton and Gov. Greg Abbott.

A New York Times / Siena College poll released Tuesday had Talarico and Paxton tied at 47% each, while Abbott, a three-term incumbent, was leading by single digits over Hinojosa. Talarico had the support of 61% of Texas Hispanics, a crucial voting group that went to Mr. Trump by a 55% margin in the 2024 presidential race in the state.

Republicans have sought to cast Talarico as too far to the left for Texas, highlighting his past statements on gender and other issues. Huerta told CBS News that she thought the “attacks” that Republicans have lobbed against Talarico are “ridiculous.”

Pointing to the power of Latino electorate, Huerta noted that both Hinojosa and the Democratic nominee for governor of California, Xavier Becerra, are Hispanic. Becerra is favored to win in heavily Democratic California.

“So, if it can happen in California, it can happen in Texas,” she added.

California’s electorate is far bluer than that of Texas. But Hinojosa noted in an interview with CBS News that 2018 Texas Democratic Senate candidate Beto O’Rourke received 64% of the Latino vote, according to exit polling, helping him come within 2.6 points of unseating GOP Sen. Ted Cruz. “When I get 64% of the Latino vote in 2026 I win,” Hinojosa argued.

“People want change,” Hinojosa said. “What is happening in Texas is there is this anti-incumbency energy.”

“The billionaires who own the social media algorithms, who own the cable news networks, who own the politicians fighting on our screens, they are turning neighbor against neighbor, weakening that spirit of friendship that makes Texas so great, they divide us by party, by race, by gender, by religion, so we don’t notice that they’re picking our pockets,” Talarico said at the convention. “It is the oldest strategy in the world: divide and conquer, but Texas will not be conquered at a time when these billionaires are dividing us into different tribes.”

First lady cites memoir after Supreme Court upholds state laws reserving girls’ sports for biological females

    June 30, 2026 6:12pm EDT / Fox News

Melania Trump says the 6-3 ruling confirms a position she outlined in her memoir months ago

    By Greg Wehner Fox News

Fox News reports on the Supreme Court’s decision to uphold Idaho and West Virginia laws, effectively banning biological males from participating in girls’ sports. Constitutional law attorney Jonathan Turley and chief legal correspondent Shannon Bream explain that the ruling aligns with the view that transgender status is not a protected class like race or religion, leaving the decision to individual states.

First lady Melania Trump pointed to a passage from her bestselling memoir Tuesday after the Supreme Court ruled that states may limit women’s and girls’ sports teams to biological females, saying the decision aligns with a position she has long supported.

In a post on X, Trump highlighted a passage from Melania that was published months before the court’s landmark 6-3 decision, which held that states may determine eligibility for women’s and girls’ sports based on biological sex under Title IX and the Equal Protection Clause.

“As many of you may know, I fully support the LGBTQIA+ community. But we must also ensure that our female athletes are protected and respected,” the first lady wrote on X, pointing readers to page 156 of her memoir, “Melania.”

“The U.S. Supreme Court has now legally confirmed this opinion: ‘Under Title IX and the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment, may schools maintain women’s and girls’ sports for biological females? … The answer is yes,’” Trump continued, citing the court’s decision.

“America, we can support the rights of the LGBTQIA+ community and also protect opportunities for female athletes,” she added. “Respect everyone and keep girls’ sports fair. Both ideals are essential.”

The first lady’s comments came just hours after the Supreme Court established a new nationwide precedent allowing states to maintain women’s and girls’ sports teams for biological females.

U.S. SENATE COMMITTEE MAKES NEW TRANS ATHLETE FINDINGS AGAINST USA HOCKEY

In the consolidated cases West Virginia v. B.P.J. and Little v. Hecox, the justices ruled 6-3 in favor of West Virginia and Idaho, upholding state laws requiring student-athletes to compete on teams that correspond with their biological sex at birth rather than their gender identity.

Writing for the majority, the court held: “Consistent with Title IX and the Equal Protection Clause, we hold that the States may maintain women’s and girls’ sports for biological females. They may determine eligibility for women’s and girls’ sports based on biological sex.”

The decision marks a major victory for supporters of so-called “Save Women’s Sports” laws, validating similar legislation enacted in 27 states in recent years. The ruling also clears the way for those states to continue enforcing the laws without the legal uncertainty that surrounded them while the cases moved through the courts.

Justice Sonia Sotomayor filed an opinion concurring in part and dissenting in part, joined by Justices Elena Kagan and Ketanji Brown Jackson.

West Virginia Attorney General John McCuskey praised the ruling, calling it “a monumental victory for every female athlete who has ever competed, or dreamed of competing, on a fair and safe playing field.”

Idaho Attorney General Raul Labrador likewise hailed the decision, saying it confirmed states’ authority to “preserve fair competition and protect the opportunities that generations of women fought to secure.”

House backs Massie’s push to release taxpayer-funded sexual harassment settlement records

    June 30, 2026 5:52pm EDT / Fox News

Rep Thomas Massie argued gaps in 2018 reporting requirements may still allow settlements to remain hidden

    By Adam Pack, Fox News

Sean Hannity lambastes the modern Democratic Party, showcasing Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner as its embodiment. Platner faces allegations of sexual misconduct, domestic abuse, and proudly displays a Nazi tattoo, yet receives Democratic support. Hannity and Sen. Ted Cruz argue the party prioritizes power over principles, tolerating extremism for political leverage. James Carville also defends Platner.

The House of Representatives overwhelmingly backed a measure Tuesday that would force the disclosure of lawmakers who used taxpayer funds to settle sexual harassment claims.

The resolution, introduced by Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., would require the House Ethics Committee to “preserve and publicly release” records related to monetary settlements involving sexual misconduct.

Massie, a frequent thorn in House GOP leadership’s side, forced a vote on the resolution, arguing that gaps in reporting requirements enacted in 2018 may still allow taxpayer-funded settlements to remain hidden.

The Kentucky lawmaker said he discovered there were no reported cases involving any members repaying sexual harassment settlements since then.

MASSIE LASHES OUT WHEN PRESSED ON EX-GIRLFRIEND’S ALLEGATIONS OF AFFAIR WITH GOP FIREBRAND

His resolution would specifically direct the ethics panel and the Office of Congressional Workplace Rights to publicly report sexual misconduct cases involving lawmakers and their staff that resulted in taxpayer-funded settlements, along with the total amount of taxpayer money spent.

“We need to know what’s been going on here in the House of Representatives in order to convince the people and assure the people that we are conducting the people’s business with the utmost integrity and treating offices and employees of this institution with the respect they serve,” Massie said.

The final vote was 420-0-1. No lawmaker spoke against the resolution during debate on the House floor.

Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., was the lone lawmaker to vote “present,” arguing Tuesday’s vote was “nothing more than political theater” after she released information earlier this year showing the federal government paid out more than $330,000 to settle sexual harassment claims since the early 2000s.

“Now Congress wants to vote on doing what we already did,” the South Carolina Republican wrote on social media.

ETHICS PANEL CLEARS GALLEGO AS LUNA DECLARES, ‘ONCE A CREEP, ALWAYS A CREEP’

Mace, who helped orchestrate a transparency push targeting lawmakers’ behavior toward women amid several high-profile resignations, subpoenaed the Congressional Office of Workplace Rights through her position on the House Oversight Committee for a bevy of settlement documents involving at least six lawmakers or their offices.

Former Rep. Blake Farenthold, R-Texas, who resigned in disgrace in 2018 amid a House ethics probe into sexual misconduct allegations, was among the lawmakers named in the documents.

Former Rep. Patrick Meehan, R-Pa., who similarly resigned in 2018 amid reports he used taxpayer funds to settle a sexual harassment suit filed by a former staffer, was also listed.

Ten lawmakers did not vote, as the chamber was scheduled to begin the July 4 recess immediately following the vote amid a conservative blockade of the House floor in protest of the stalled SAVE America Act.

The resolution’s passage comes after Cynthia West, a former Massie girlfriend, accused the Kentucky lawmaker of emotional abuse in May. West also alleged that Massie attempted to pay her $5,000 to drop a wrongful termination lawsuit against the office of Rep. Victoria Spartz, R-Ind., who fired her shortly after taking a position in the office.

Spacewalkers successfully replace broken “wrist” joint in space station’s robot arm

    June 30, 2026 / 5:19 PM EDT / CBS News

Two NASA astronauts floating outside the International Space Station carried out a bit of orbital surgery Tuesday, successfully replacing a broken 200-pound “wrist” joint near the end of the lab’s 58-foot-long robot arm.

“That is a good install, you guys. I know that was tough. Wonderful work,” Canadian astronaut Jenni Gibbons called up from mission control toward the end of the seven-hour, 20-minute excursion.

Astronaut Chris Williams shows a “strong man” pose 260 miles above Earth during a break in work to repair the International Space Station’s robot arm. NASA

On May 27, flight controllers at the Johnson Space Center in Houston noticed one of the Canadian-built arm’s seven joints was drawing more current than expected and not moving properly.

After a detailed review of telemetry, NASA managers and experts with the Canadian Space Agency, which supplied the station arm, concluded the joint had failed and needed to be replaced with a spare, one of two mounted on an external stowage platform.

“Systems like Canadarm2 were designed from the beginning with replaceable components and were planned with maintenance in mind,” ISS operations and integration manager Bill Spetch said. “This is no exception.”

Floating in the Quest airlock, astronaut Jessica Meir, making her fifth spacewalk, and crewmate Chris Williams, making his second, switched their spacesuits to battery power at 8:20 a.m. ET, officially kicking off the year’s third ISS spacewalk and the 280th overall.

After setting up foot restraints near the stowage platform and positioning the spare joint for installation, Williams and Meir detached the arm’s “hand,” known as the latching end effector or LEE, along with two other healthy joints.

Williams moves the failed wrist joint to a temporary storage location while he and Jessica Meir work to install a replacement. NASA

The 900-pound assembly was temporarily mounted on a nearby shelf, clearing the way for the removal of joint No. 5, the 200-pound wrist joint that failed. The replacement joint was successfully installed four and a half hours into the spacewalk.

“We’ll remove the failed joint five, replace it with the spare joint and then once that’s back on the arm, our last major task will be to get that LEE cluster that we temporarily stowed and put it back onto the robotic arm so that we have a fully assembled arm at the end of the spacewalk,” flight director Fiona Antkowiak said.

Five and a half hours after beginning the spacewalk, Williams and Meir were able to reattach the LEE cluster as planned. Shortly after, flight controllers powered up the arm and verified good electrical connections through the newly installed joint.

“Today we did hear good confirmation that … Canadarm2 has two good strings of power and data to the arm,” NASA commentator Sandra Jones said. “So today’s wrist surgery was successful.”

Williams and Meir, meanwhile, collected their tools and headed back to the airlock to close out the spacewalk.

Williams also brought the failed joint back into the airlock so it can eventually be returned to Earth for repairs. Once that work is complete, the refurbished joint and one other will be relaunched to the space station for future use as needed.

The robot arm is critical to normal station operations. It is used to capture Northrop Grumman’s Cygnus cargo ships, pulling them in for berthing while moving other components — and spacewalkers — from point to point during maintenance operations.

NASA plans to retire the space station by the end of 2030, but Spetch said the agency will continue to maintain the arm throughout because it is vital to ISS operations.

“There’s not a time where we say hey, we’re just done repairing the arm,” he said. “Overall, the arm is critical for station operations and continued maintenance of it throughout to the end of life.”

22:23:31.507 UTC / https://www.cnn.com/2026/06/30/politics/transgender-athletes-supreme-court-decision-what-to-know

Supreme Court upholds transgender sports bans: What to know and what’s next

    2026-06-30T22:23:31.507Z / https://www.cnn.com/2026/06/30/politics/transgender-athletes-supreme-court-decision-what-to-know

The Supreme Court on Tuesday upheld state bans on transgender students playing on girls sports teams, delivering another blockbuster setback to trans youth and their families in a decision that is likely to sustain similar laws in about half of the nation.

In a 6-3 decision over the dissent of the court’s liberals, the conservative majority ruled that the bans enacted by West Virginia and Idaho do not violate the Constitution’s equal protection clause, and the court unanimously agreed it did not run afoul of a federal anti-discrimination law.

The lawsuits were filed by Becky Pepper-Jackson, a West Virginia high school student who is transgender and who competes on her school’s track team, and Lindsay Hecox, a senior at Boise State University.

Here’s what to know about the court’s decision in what was arguably its most important culture war dispute of the year.

The central element of the Supreme Court’s decision, which divided the court 6-3, was that the bans on transgender girls competing on girls sports teams did not run afoul of the 14th Amendment.

Writing for the majority, Justice Brett Kavanaugh reasoned that the laws at issue made a distinction based on biological sex, and that was permitted under the Constitution.

“Separate sports teams for biological males and biological females are reasonable: Given the inherent physical differences between the sexes, allowing only biological females to play on women’s and girls’ teams can reduce the risk of physical injury and ensure fair competition,” Kavanaugh wrote.

The ruling marked the latest instance in which the 6-3 conservative court has let states sort out transgender rights for themselves, an outcome that will almost certainly put political pressure on other conservative states to continue to clamp down on gains the transgender community had made in recent years.

At the very least, the court has made clear that it will entertain state laws that work against transgender Americans as long as those laws are focused on “biological sex” rather than explicitly aimed at trans people.

The high court has repeatedly appeared doubtful that the equal protection clause provides stronger civil rights protections to trans Americans, including when it said last year that states could restrict gender identity care for trans minors.

The court’s decision to issue a broad ruling on the sports issue drew fierce pushback from the three liberal members of the bench, with Justice Sonia Sotomayor writing that the majority “badly” erred by not allowing the constitutional claims raised by Jackson against West Virginia’s law to proceed. She said her decision was anchored in the fact that there was an ongoing factual dispute in the litigation that could have ultimately led to a different outcome.

“West Virginia may well have satisfied its burden and seen its ban upheld,” she wrote. “The point, rather, is that this court’s equal protection precedents require a very different approach to (Jackson’s) claim than the one the majority follows today.”

“A restrained approach, based on all relevant facts, is particularly necessary when the court is faced with a consequential decision of constitutional dimension,” Sotomayor wrote.

Perhaps the most surprising element of the court’s decision was not that the transgender students lost, but rather that the court’s liberals concluded that the restrictions do not violate Title IX, a decades-old federal law intended to combat sex discrimination in schools that receive federal funding.

The outcome tracked with the way the conservative majority has ruled in virtually every case dealing with trans Americans to reach its docket.

Joshua Block, an American Civil Liberties Union lawyer who represents Pepper-Jackson, described the ruling to CNN as “a devastating decision for transgender girls who just want to have the same opportunities that other girls do.”

A year ago, in another high-profile merits decision, a 6-3 majority of the Supreme Court let stand a Tennessee law banning transgender care for minors. That decision also bolstered laws in more than 20 states that banned puberty blockers, hormone therapy and other treatment for minors seeking to transition to match their gender identity.

In that sense, the court’s decisions have left the nation divided into one group of states that have clamped down on trans rights and another that have allowed them to flourish. The court has made clear it believes legislatures are best equipped to handle the complicated and often deeply personal questions of gender.

On the federal level, the court last spring allowed the Trump administration to enforce a ban on transgender service members in the military. That case was decided on the court’s emergency docket. In November, the court let the Trump administration require US passports to include a traveler’s sex at birth, rather than a person’s gender identity.

The court went the other way last fall, rejecting an emergency request from South Carolina to enforce a ban on transgender students using school bathrooms that align with their gender identity.

Transgender rights are almost certain to continue to feature prominently on the Supreme Court docket in comings years. In the final days of its term, the court agreed to hear an appeal from parents in Washington who are seeking to challenge state laws permitting runaway minors to receive transgender care without parental notice.

The court’s three-justice liberal wing got on board with the majority for the proposition that a separate anti-discrimination federal law known as Title IX did not bar the states from banning trans girls in sports. But that’s because all sides agreed that Title IX allows schools to split sports teams between the sexes.

“On this point,” Sotomayor wrote for the liberal bloc, “BPJ’s claim fails because Title IX allows this sex distinction.”

Even as the high court upheld the state sports bans, Kavanaugh’s opinion could help strengthen other cases brought by transgender Americans alleging discrimination by government actors.

Kavanaugh held that the laws amount to sex-based discrimination, which is permissible under the Constitution — but only if a state can demonstrate that such discrimination is “substantially related to an important governmental interest.” What that means is that states seeking to restrict transgender rights can’t just do so for any reason — they will have to meet a higher standard of judicial review in order to have policies cleared by federal courts.

The court said West Virginia and Idaho’s laws can remain intact because they met that higher standard.

“But whether other discrimination against transgender individuals, from bathrooms to military service, could also meet this higher standard remains to be litigated in future cases,” said Steve Vladeck, CNN Supreme Court analyst and professor at Georgetown University Law Center.

“It’s still a significant loss for equality advocates – but one that opens the door to at least some skepticism of other governmental discrimination against transgender individuals going forward,” Vladeck added.

Kavanaugh, who often uses reconciliatory language, sought to soften the blow of his 29-page opinion by ending on a sympathetic note.

“Most of the biological female and transgender student-athletes who are involved in transgender sports disputes around the country are teenagers or in their early twenties. Those student athletes want to play sports. Their desire to compete warrants respect,” wrote Kavanaugh, who for years coached his daughters’ basketball teams.

“No student-athlete on either side of the issue, whether a biological female or transgender, deserves to be ostracized or vilified,” he continued.

The words recalled a similar sentiment Kavanaugh expressed six years ago when the court issued a landmark ruling that extended civil rights protections to LGBTQ workers. Kavanaugh was on the losing side of that dispute, but in spelling out his opposition to the court’s ruling, he pointed to the social and political progress achieved by gay and lesbian Americans in recent years.

“They have exhibited extraordinary vision, tenacity, and grit – battling often steep odds in the legislative and judicial arenas, not to mention in their daily lives,” he wrote in 2020. “They have advanced powerful policy arguments and can take pride in today’s result.”

    https://www.cnn.com/

‘A huge victory for common sense’: West Virginia Atty General reacts to Supreme Court ruling on transgender athletes

But on Tuesday, Sotomayor dismissed Kavanaugh’s statements as insincere.

“The majority’s opinion ends by reciting the many wonderful ways in which playing sports can be valuable to young people,” she wrote. “Because of the court’s decision today, West Virginia, and any other state actor, can deny (Jackson) and others like her these experiences simply because it thinks they have an inherent athletic advantage, even if the facts show that they do not.”

Notably, the court’s decision did not touch thorny questions around whether states can lawfully permit trans women and girls to play on teams that match their gender identity.

In a footnote addressing that issue, Kavanaugh made clear that “nothing in this opinion is intended to decide that question.”

That decision leaves states free to legislate around the issue however they see fit. About half the country currently allows trans athletes to compete on the team that matches their gender identity, according to the Movement Advancement Project.

Similarly, Kavanaugh wrote, the court was not addressing at this time the question of whether cisgender women can compete on men’s or co-ed teams.

Conservative lawmakers and anti-trans activists who oppose trans athletes’ participation may be emboldened to push for bans in states where they do not already exist.

“Why should a girl in Texas have different rights than a girl in Connecticut or New York?” said Paula Scanlan, who swam alongside transgender swimmer Lia Thomas at the University of Pennsylvania, on Fox News.

Scanlan is among a group of people who have called on Congress to pass a national ban on trans women in girls sports. Earlier this year, Republican Rep. John McGuire of Virginia introduced the “Riley Gaines Act,” named after the activist and former swimmer who has emerged at the forefront of the conservative anti-trans movement after opposing Thomas’ position as the first transgender athlete to win an NCAA Division I title.

But many bans impact school-aged children who could benefit greatly from the social, physical and mental aspects of athletics, CNN sports analyst and USA Today columnist Christine Brennan said.

“This is now the needle that the sports world is going to thread to make sure they do not exclude children well before the elite level from the opportunity to learn those life lessons playing sports,” Brennan told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer.

Trump’s history of promises to the LGBTQ community

Complicating the conversation about transgender athletes is a lack of reliable data on how prevalent trans athletes are, whether in recreational youth sports or in cutthroat international competition. This has led advocacy groups on both sides to make wide-ranging and often conflicting estimates.

In the most competitive arenas, however, figures indicate that transgender people make up a sliver of participating athletes and rarely take top prizes.

Since the International Olympic Committee began permitting trans and nonbinary athletes to participate openly in 2003, fewer than a dozen have qualified. Most have competed on the team consistent with their gender assigned at birth, choosing to forgo hormone replacement therapy in order to qualify for competition. Only one out trans woman, New Zealand weightlifter Laurel Hubbard, has qualified for the Olympics, and she failed to complete a single lift.

NCAA President Charlie Baker testified before the Senate in 2024 that he was aware of “less than 10” transgender athletes competing in the league – a number amounting to less than .002% of its athletes.

And in younger age groups, the Williams Institute, a think tank at UCLA Law, estimates that as many as 122,000trans youth age 13 to 17 could be participating in high school sports. It is unclear, however, how many play on the team that aligns with their gender identity, as many of them presumably live in states with bans in place.

“I just felt really devastated for all the young kids that are just not going to be able to play sports with their friends,” said Harrison Browne, a former professional hockey player and actor in the Netflix show “Heated Rivalry,” told CNN.

Browne added: “Being authentically yourself while playing the sport that you love is a right that everybody should have.”
